My ABS and brake light will stay on after my vehicle is running. I took my van to the base hobby shop and ran a diagnostics on the Abs system and came up with codes c1246 & c1286. The 1246 code says "rear abs channel will not move". Can someone please explain exactly what that means and what do I need to do to clear the codes? I have been told that once I fix the 1246 code the 1286 code would clear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you are not getting a signal from one of your rear abs sensors, which are part of the hub bearing. Either the sensor is bad, necessitating a hub replacement, or you have a wiring problem (broken wire or possibly just unplugged).

I have a 2000 Venture...not sure if the ABS wiring is the same as your 99 or not. Take a look underneath the van, on the driver's side, just behind the driver's seat. Mine has a junction block were the rear ABS sensors plug in. Remove the plugs & look for signs of corrosion. Mine were a nice shade of green...lol. Clean them as best you can & spraying them with a shot of contact cleaner might be a good idea too.

Found the plug in about the same location you descibed and it was covered with green crap. I cleaned everything with contact cleaner. Did you get a code and that how you figured it out? If you did get a code, how did you clear it?

you need to take your van to someone with the ability to clear abs codes. The 96-newer vehicles use obdII diagnostics and cannot be cleared by unhooking the battery like the older cars. I don't believe the scan tool they use at Auto-zone has teh ability to clear abs codes, but you might give them or Advance Auto a try, cuz if they can, they do it for free.
