I recently purchased an 86 celica gt. The CD deck works, but I can't get any sound. Are there any suggestions as to why I cant get sound. (The lights on my deck say that everything works). The wires leading into the speakers seem connected unless I'm missing something.

ha, I have a similar problem in my 84. I was gonna have best buy fix it when I was about to buy a new deck... but apparently no one in the world has a wiring harness for an 84 Celica GT... so I'm going to have to have a harness custom made for my car...

go to Pep Boys...they had a wiring harness for my 90 celica....maybe they will have one for your 84.

And make sure your speaker wires aren't split somewhere (question: did you put new speakers in?).

nope. Best Buy can't even order them from the factory. Neither can Circuit City...

No I didn't put the speakers in. I'll go through and check the wires. Someone else told me it could be the output chip on my deck and that I may need to buy a new deck?!

im not sure if you do but does that generation have an in-line amp in the sound system...i know that my 91 gts with the system 10 sound system has an in-line 220 watt amp...that got blown and my system wouldnt make a sound...but everything worked...hopefully that helps ya
