Is there a place online I can get instructions on changing a water pump on my 96 Deville?

Haven't been able to find any do it yourself car repair sites on the web. Best bet might be to buy a service manual on ebay.

Haynes Repair Manuals are sold at AutoZone I believe also.

The Northstar is easy if you have the propper tool, I did mine without a tool and it took me over 2 hrs, with the waterpump tool it would have taken 10 min.
Check out Autozone if in your area they lend tools or if not try to rent a tool.
It is real easy you just take off the thermastat housing and the pump twist in and out.

Did you get the water pump changed?
I'm trying to change one on my Aurora (same set-up) and it won't budge.
I have the wrench (the cheapo Lisle) but it keeps slipping off and i'm not getting anywhere.
Anyone else run into this problem?
Am I missing something?

Thanks beegolden for the link...I'll check it out.
I hear ya on the chisel...I'm paranoid about damaging something $$$$.
I'm going to try using a heat gun to warm it at the suggestion of someone from the Aurora forum.
Wish me luck...this car has been a driveway monument for over a week now.
I'll keep checking this thread to see if anyone else has run into this.

remember the pump is like a left handed thread it twists to the right to come out. if you get in there and look you will see the ears that stop it from turning. and PB blaster is your friend

I haven't changed mine yet. I had rotary cuff surgery and that put a stop to anything for a while. I did buy the tool through Napa and talked to our tool rep that has changed them. He said they popped it with an air chisel but you have to take care not to bust the housing. I also talked to a guy that had to cut the old water pump apart because it was so corroded on the aluminum housing it screws into. They said be patient and careful. The rate my shoulder is healing, I'll be able to fix this in......November 05.

some pb blaster is your friend shoot both sides. a 1/2 inch air gun with a swivel will attach to the tool and fit just past the fender held upside down. coulpe of bumps and it's off. make sure you sre on the pump ears not the housing stops. clean the ridge and you are good to go

Autozone.com offers free online repair manuals but they recently updated their site so yours may not be available yet.
