Hi,

I am buying 1994 BMW 740i, 189000 Kms Driven Car. I was wondering if it is a very old model and it is too much a kms for this version of car. I am quiet confused with it. All the electronics in the car is still functioning quiet well and BMW Workshop suggested with minor service it should be a great car.

Does anyone know what is the life cycle of BMW 740i Car, How many Kms should a car can be driven or what should be my checklist before I buy this car. What all stuff I should look for etc.

Please advice,

Thanks,

Girish

Well I dont know how to convert Miles over to Km's but adverage
8-11,000 miles a year. So almost 11 yr old car should have 110,000 miles on it.

Maitnance records, ask them if they have any. look at the transmission from under the car, see if its really wet. ANd I mean wet, not just road grime and a pudle here and there. If its wet you should see the very slippery fluid. Also check the rear differential. Its the large thing right in the middle of the car between both back wheels. It looks something like a pumpkin. See if thats wet also. Other then that check everything, lights windows, power seats, also take it for a test drive and see if theres any steeringwhell wobble while breaking and also do some panaic stops with it to make sure everythigns working. Also look at the engine oil with the dip stick. If its nice clean looking (clean looking it has a orange tint to it) then the oil was just changed. If its dark or even black then the oil needs to be changed.

But if the person has the matinance records then you wont even have to do 75% of the stuff I just said.

Just to let you know, to convert Kms to milage, use this simple equation. Every 100Kms is about equal to 62 miles. So that would make your car have about 117,000 miles (if I'm right). So have fun with your new car, mine runs great at almost 300,000Kms

Now, I have got my BMW 740i and I am enjoying the drive.

I need help on the following:

1. Sometime during a long drive I see fog coming in from the AC vents why?

2. Sometime during long drives say after 50kms the AC stops working and while adjusting the thermostat nob it starts again or sometimes it starts automatically after few kms. Why this could be?

3. I tried all the combination of making CAR AC fresh but the air from outside still comes in which means if my car is behind another car fumes of that car comes inside and it is too much suffocating with the AC on. So Cold air but dusty and populated air! Why this could be?

Please reply,

I believe that symptom is caused by the A/C drain line being clogged up.
