'93 JGC Timing & Distributorwesleyfree 10-03-2004, 11:10 PM i have a '93 JGC V8 5.2 i just replaced the distributor cables and spark plugs. There is now a slight hessitation when i press the gas. The cause i think is either the way i hooked the distributor cables back up or i might have cracked a spark plug. the order from a haynes manual is 2-1-8-4-3-6-5-7(reading clockwise)... with 2 being the one closest to the engine. but, the trouble is #'s 2 & 7 are both close to the engine. so i dont know which one on the distributor cap is which. right now it runs but there is a slight hessitation. im going to check the spark plugs tommorow but i wanted to know if anyone has any advice or help. a friend said the distributor cap might be bad but it worked fine earlier today and the only thing to change were the cables and plugs. help... HI, IF I REMEMBER RIGHT THE FIRING ORDER ON 5.2 & 5.9 IS 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 CHECK IT OUT DALE :nono: wesleyfree 10-03-2004, 11:51 PM 2 being closest to the engine. i started with 2 when i was connecting the cables. thats the only reason why i put if first, because thats the way i wrote it down. but yes the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-7-2... can someone just put a diagram up for me to follow, this is really a pain. i worked on it all day. i need something to get me to class tommorow. your thoughts. cdlabelle 10-04-2004, 12:25 AM Did you check the gap, on the spark plugs, I never trust them fresh out of the box. Also, regardless when doing minor tune ups, it's a good practice the replace the distributor cap when changing plugs and wires. I would also double check the Haynes manual just to make sure I was reading the correct info on the 5.2, they sometimes include the 5.9 info in close with the 5.2 stuff. As a last point, check your timing.....Good Luck.. JDPascal 10-04-2004, 12:25 AM Distributer rotates clockwise maybe you reversed it??? probably not but just a thought. #1 cylinder is drivers side front 1357 on DS and 2468 on pass side. the distributer cap hold downs are between 1 and 8 on the passenger side and 5 and 6 on the drivers side. best I can do for you at the moment. just follow each wire from the cap to the plug to varify the correct connection. JD wesleyfree 10-04-2004, 01:34 PM no got all that... guy at the auto shop told me a vaccum line might be loose or something... ill check that. and i didnt reverse it. cdlabelle 10-04-2004, 09:35 PM Ah........the ever forgetfull vacuum leaks....yes!
