Headlight moisture

Is there a fix (other than replacing the headlamp assembly) for moisture buildup in the headlamp box? It really makes the car look bad during the day.

Are the headlamps the originals? If then you are in luck.
A quick visual inspection of the top of the headlight will confirm whether or not you can fix yourself. Along the top of the headlight you will see the seam where the two halves come together. If you can see a gray adhesive material you are in luck.
Items require:
-cookiesheet
-towel
-cloth or leather gloves
-headlight assy
1)remove the headlight bulbs, be careful not to touch the bulbs with your fingers
2) remove the headlight assy
3) remove the turn signal bulb and the 3 metal retaining clips on the bottom of the headlight assy.
4) preheat oven to 350 f.
5) get cookiesheet and keep it handy and a towel
keep the out of the oven untill you are ready to put headlights in.
6) fold the towel in a fashion that covers the top of the cookiesheet but leave a little extra to fold over the headlamp assy, this protects the headlights from melting. try not to let towel hang over edge of cookiesheet the exposure to the oven could cause a fire.
7) place cookieshhet and headlight assy in oven and set the timer to 12 minutes
8) turn the oven light on and wathc the oven, since you have plastic and a towel in the oven you could start a fire. You will find that the towel will become very helpful when removing the assy from the oven
**** what you are attempting to do is soften the gray adhesive material that bonds the halves together. This could take as much as 15 to 16 minutes so at 12 minutes pull the towel rapped headlight out sit on top of stove and see if you can pull the havles apart..
If you cannt easily pull them apart put the headlight assy back in the oven for 2 to 3 more minutes. Check again.
Once hot enough to seperate you all you need to do is press and hold the headlight assy together until it cools. The adhesive will harden again then all you need to do is reinstall in the reverse order.
It may take a couple of attempts to correct but you will get it. The thing is is to constantly observe when in the oven so you do not melt the assy or catch the towel on fire.
Other folks may have a different approach but the job cannot be done without the oven. Good luck. Post back if you have any other questions.
