96 Ranger 2.3 145,000 miles. Engine suddenly started to severely spitter, sputter & break down. Converter was red hot so assumed it was plugged. Installed new converter and problem was still there and the new converter was getting hot. Installed new timing belt, plugs, wires & fuel filter. Still no help. Local mechanic analyzed it as the cam sensor. Installed new sensor and the problem is still there. Motor starts & idles fine but as soon a load is put on it the motor breaks down so badly it is not driveable. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Additional info: Fuel pressure is good, get code P0320 (ignition/dist engine speed input circuit malfunction). Happens while in neutral also.
Hope this helps, Thanks…
