Im redoing the wiring in the engine compartment of a 1959 beetle with the orginal 1200cc as far to my knowledge it hasnt been converted to a 12v system. In my earlier thread i asked how to tell if i have a 12v conversion already done i just bought the car and it had an engine fire and the inside of the engine compartment is totaled. What kind of wire should i use to redo the wiring and where can i get it at? Im looking on doing this as cheap as possible so i dont wanna have to get a complete rear wire harness i just want to know what gauge wire i should use and on what wires??? If anyone could help me out that would be awesome!

Thanks

Any automotive wire will do, copper braided. Most of the wiring can be done in 12 or 14 gauge, but the generator & regulator to battary is probably 6 or 8 gauge wire.

I believe all the manuals will provide that info; Bentley, Haynes, Clymer....
