what engines can be swapped into a 97 celica st for a power upgrade keeping obd2 restrictions in mind. Or how could you get around obd2 with the 3sgte from a 90-95 in a 97.

cant get a 3sgte in an st diff motor mounts and shit..... you can use the 4age witch gives anywhere from 140-160 hp depeding on what version you get (blacktop silvertop and generation)

or you can use a 4agze... 180-190 HP supercharged motor outta a MR2... fairley decent motor... to be honest id do this but ur wiering harness will be HELL

What years and models are the 4agze and 4age from? can you get them to be obd2 compliant?

Hey i'm sorry but 91 Celica St is COMPLETLY wrong on this one, u most diffenintly can put a 3sgte in a 7afe, u just need to get GT (5sfe) motor mounts. I know many people that have done it. And PLEASE go to http://6gc.net for ALL your 6th gen celica needs. As they everyone there on the fourms knows their shit. There is also a ton of info, and links about the swap as many people on the site have completed it.

put it this way if e was to wanna put a 3sgte in it it would be $5,000+, if he wanted a 4agze it would be less than $1500

sorry about not checking the forum first. you guys have been a big help. i was asking this question on behalf of a freind who just bought a celica st. coming from the 240sx world, our swaps are a bit more straight forward. i'll check those other sies for odb2 compliances. just one more question tho: does anyone make a turbo kit for the st motor or is there some other stock exhaust manifold and down pipe that can be used to piece together a turbo kit?

yeah they make them for corollas, 90-92, it has the same motor as the St....to be honest there like 1,500 and it would be better to just d the motor swap its not that hard either bolts directly in nad the wiereing harness isnt that hard if you have toyotas green book and know what ur doing, not only that youll have 180 Hp plus if you bought pully kits(4agze pullys suck) and upped the boost you can be pushin like 220 HP
