2000 4Runner Limited,
Having a strange and intermittent problem with the electronic climate control. At times the control buttons will not work. If the A/C in on, I cannot turn it off, change the temperature or fan speed. If the system is off, it may not turn on. Occasionally after repeated pushing buttons it may start to work proper or I must stop and turn the vehicle off then back on to get it to work.
Not the best of a description but is anyone else having a similar problem? Any suggestions short of going to the dealer? Thanks for all comments.

I have the same problem. My car is a 1999 4runner limited.

Hello, we have had our 2000 4runner now for about a year , it now has 75,000km. I am now having the same problem, the climate control works when it wants to. Same problem as you described. Did you get yours fixed? I took mine to the toyota dealer here and they want $1385.00 to replace it!!

I have done some extensive stereo work on my '00 Runner LTD, so...I've had to remove the dash and move things around. In trying to research a few things surrounding the AC unit/mounting brackets/etc, I came across these and a few other posts regarding failed/failing a/c ecu's. I purchsed a wrecked '00 LTD a while back for the front end, and happen to have a spare AC ecu, so...I'd be more than willing to sell it to anyone who's interested. I can video the installation to prove it's working, etc. I wouldn't have thought this part would fail, but...it looks like it is somewhat of a common problem. Install is very easy, so drop me a line if you are interested.

Seems to be a common problem. I wasn't sure if it was a connection problem or a hardward problem. It sounds like the entire control unit because I have the same problem
