I rescently got my hands on a low mileage japanese import GT4 (st205), it runs very well, but i have a wierd problem, if it is at all a problem. When non of the electrics are in use, ie A/C, blowers etc it ticks over at a normal 800rpm but when the heaters are being used, the engine ticks over at about 1100rpm, not a big difference I know but somewhat strange. Is this normal for a Celica or is it the start of a bigger problem? Any advice would be much appreciated. (the car is to the best of my knowlage totally origional appart from some 18" alloys) Also, what is the best aftermarket Airfilter for the Celica as not many companies seam to do one for the GT4? Thanks again.

id say that its just because the electrics are using more power and the engine revs a bit higher to compensate for it. nothing that i would worry about

yeah its cuz ur using the fan belts more so it ups the idel to give the engine more heat to give to you, the ac makes the idel g up cuz the belts have to spin at a higher rate of speed...fyi did you put the gt4 engine in ur car ... how did u start it?

No i didnt put the Gt4 engine in my car, its a standard (well almost standard (94/5) GT4, it was imported over from Japan by a garage that was going to use it as a show/demo car, after spraying it in an "Astin Martin" blue flip paint and putting on a rather sexy set of 18 inch alloys onto it, they decided to sell it????? I havnt quite figured out why as it runs like a dream. I went back to the garage that I got it from and they agreed with what you said, that it was just compensating for the extra power usage etc. Thanks for the advice it was much appreciated. My next task is to modify it without killing the drivablility of it as it is also used everyday. So any ideas on what I can do would be great, I must add that I`m in the UK so we dont have the modifying restrictions that the guys in the USA seem to have, the only thing I need to keep on the car is the "cat" (so it will pass its yearly m.o.t). I would post some pictures on here to show off my car but I dont know how to. i have a liitle message on my screen saying i cant post attachments. (how do i do it Mr Moderator sir :-) )

how much did u pay for the car? in american $$$ if u can say it.... thats awsome dude, and yeah even motors that are like 5.7 liter do that when you turn the ac and stuff on, we have modern ass engines, and we need to get rid of the belts

Hard to say what I paid in $ as I`m not sure of the exchange rate. You have to realise that in the UK we get ripped off for almost everything we buy, as an example it costs me roughly $60 just to fill my car with petrol. The celica cost me £5995 which is about $8500.

thats awsome, all track 2nd gens (90-93) are like $10,000....how much do u think it would be to buy a car like an all track over there and have it brought over to here?

Well it would cost you roughly the same to buy as it did for me, although you can pick up 5th gen altracs for about £3000 ($4500) or the Limited edition Carlos Saintz WRC GT4 for about £5000 ($7000) in imaculate condition. getting it back to America is another thing, having it shipped over should cost you about $1000 / $2000 per cubic meter. (work that one out for yourself) thats what you pay from japan, to The USA will probably be cheaper as there less distance in shipping between the UK and the USA than there is between the UK and Japan. so maybe $12000 total for a sixth gen gt4. Check this though as there may be hidden costs such as import duty which is a percentage of the value of the cargo, and getting it leaglized for use in the US, imissions etc (please excuse my spelling, never did pay much attention English in classes). Hope this helps but I`m sure there are people out there who know alot more about this than I do.

I know this thread has kinda wondered off topic a bit yeah....GT4 s rock, they are quite rare where I live and it gets alot of looks. I love thrashing bigger cars, especially BMW drivers (reps) who think that thier car is the fastest car ever.

They are very nice cars, i have test driven about twenty in my search for a good one so dont rush in to buying one, and try to get a standard one, it means you can do what you want to it, knowing that it probably hasnt been thrashed around as much as a modified one. I love mine and would be hard pushed to part from it. I would post a picture here but like i mentioned earlyer I dont know how to, any ideas on how i go about doing this?
