1992 dodge 318 diesgege1@adelphia.net 09-29-2004, 07:03 AM Looking for an answer to why my 1992 ram van 2500 shuts down. It will be running fine then all of a sudden it just quits. Let it sit for 1 to 15 min with key in on position then a clicking sound under dash - check eng light comes on & goes off and then it will start. Hot or cold makes no difference. Local dodge mechs are clueless. :banghead: smutsmoney 10-23-2004, 05:43 PM A relay in the fuel or ignition system is sticking. tgbg 12-08-2004, 09:22 AM The Halleffect pickup in the distributor. I had that problem with my -89 318. It would run fine for 10-15 min then just die. Let it "rest" for anything between 5-20 min and it would run fine again. I replaced the Halleffect pickup (the part was not expensive) and the problem was gone. frankendart 12-10-2004, 07:20 AM The Halleffect pickup in the distributor. I had that problem with my -89 318. Don't know if this is the same thing, but I replaced the "Magnetic Pick up Coil" in the distributer when I experienced the same problem, and that fixed it. The Magnetic Pick up Coil is the part the sends the spark to the reluctor. The part cost me about $25.00, and took about 10 minutes to change. I not sure if that's the same as the "Hall effect Pick up" though... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
