I am a newbie and my friend's buddy wants to race me in his nissan 1993 nissan 240sx with a stock sr20det motor (201 hp, 203 ft/lb). I have a 1995 civic EX with turbocharged b18c in it and exhaust. What upgrade do I need in order to beat him.
Any help would be great.

He's got a B18 bud. That aside, i agree with what you said. He could also try stripping out some/most/all of the interior to try to lighten the car further if possible.

a boosted b18C in a 5th gen coupe should be able to waste him without any other mods.

agreed, with a turbo b18 even pushing only a few pounds you should be up with him in hp. torque who knows, its your car. stop fucking around and just race him

there's a dynograph of a GSR with the RevHard Kit. It says about 230 hp and 170 lb/ft tq at the wheels. Translates to over 250 hp and about 200 lb/ft of tq at the crank. The sr20det only has about 200 of each at the crank. He should be able beat him, considering his setup is similar anyways.

Yea, u should be able to beat him regardless of his swap, especially if it's a stock SR20det. Your only problem with be hooking off the line, but if you have B-series boosted, you should, in theory, depending on driver, catch him at the top of second and into third gear. I had a 96 civic EX with an LS boosted swap and it made 248whp stock, with no bolt-ons, and only an upgraded fuel pump. Your car weights less than my civic did, you're probably pushing more horsepower, the only question is, can you drive....
