I have a 2000 Olds Intrigue with the 3.5 Liter Twin Cam V6 in it. I was told that I have a crack somewhere in the motor and need to replace it. I purchased a similar motor at a junkyard with only 38,000 miles on it. The problem I am having is that my engine is set up for California Select component and California Emissions system and the motor I purchased is a federal Emissions set-up. I am stuck with a a car that needs to have an engine replaced and an engine that might not fit.

Does any one know if I can use the Federal Emission engine in replace of the California select component engine. The only difference I can see in the two is that there are three holes in the enigne block for the air tube set-up that is on the old one and not on the newer one. The Federal Emission engine does not have these three air holes on each side it. Can any one provide assistance? The Chilton's manual does not describe this in it at all only shows a picture of it.
