emergency brakes

how hard is it adjust the emergency brakes,when i set them and put the truck in drive its like i never set them at all thanks

The cable goes down the left side of truck next to frame. The adjuster is located about halfway back where the bare cable splits into the two sheathed cables that go to each wheel. Just turn the adjustment nut until you get your pedal back. Don't overadjust.

That's if you are lucky and the notoriously poor design of the rear emergency brake system is still functioning. You may find that no amount of adjusting does anything. Then it's time for a brake job.

I've been toying with the idea of adjusting mine, but I heard somewhere that the reason that they stopped working is that the poor design causes them to rub when not engaged and they rub until they are worn past the point where they work. If I adjust them are they going to rub aqain?
