Fyter,
Check this outfit ( good website ) http://www.tciauto.com/gm/gm_turbo_hydramatic.htm
They have all kinds of goodies! And yes a TH 350 will hold plenty of torque and Horsepower when they are done right! :2cents:

Sweet, thats a great site to get good Specs. Thanks alot! I was always confused about what kind of tourqe converter to put in. Do you know anything about DriveShafts? What Drivershaft is good and what kind of rear end should I have?

hd steel or aluminum for a driveshaft. I'd check in your area before you order one that has to be shipped. I'd go with a 12-bolt, 9-inch or dana 60 rear end to handle the power and torque the 383 should put down. You can also go with a 10-bolt, but get an 8.5" if you go with a 10-bolt.

find the guys who build up the
LOUD PEDALS for the local race track drivers
these guys can and will have a wealth of knowledge and then if your not scarin the PISS outta your bud then ya wont be stuck on hold tryin to get results

I have gone through that stuff b4 some of em are very reputable
but on my experience the local guys in my area were far more helpfull
I drive 2 different cars at my local oval track

If you have the money go with TCI tciauto.com
for your 383 stay with the th350. a 400 would rob some take off due to a small gearing difference. TCI is a great place to ask tech and to get top of the line parts... TH350 i would use it! As for a rearend. I would build the one you have its either a 8.2 or 8.5 most likely an 8.2. A ford 9in is actually a rear that would hurt you unless you have gobs of horsepower. It has a different pinion angle and actually robs some power. Go to Jegs.com and look for your rear application. I guarantee they will have the parts to fit your rear... A 12 bolt is the best case scenario. If you have the cash to get one do it. but then you run into having to possibly modifiying it to fit your leaf springs and the width is a little different.
