supra?Gilgland 09-27-2004, 02:54 PM I drove a camarow this past weekend. I really liked the muscle car feel but I am verry parshal to imports. the old school supra seem to fit the bill and they are affordable for a college student like me. I live in Virginia Beach how much am I looking to pay for a 5 speed 1985-90? how do they drive as far as power and controll? darknite23 10-01-2004, 06:27 AM the car handes great, reliable if you treat it right, handles like no other problem i see is gas milage im a senior in highschool exept i got a mkiv the mkiii get 17/22mpg but other than that its a good car and i know cause me and my freind bought one as a project last year. Well good luck with your search why dont you want 91-92? Gilgland 10-04-2004, 11:30 AM why dont you want 91-92? Mony is an issue. I have a 91 ford tempo and a 87 hond civic hatch I am trying to sell to get one and I want a turbo so the mk3 sounds like the one for me. plus I love 80's cars DarkStarRacing 10-10-2004, 01:09 PM Mony is an issue. I have a 91 ford tempo and a 87 hond civic hatch I am trying to sell to get one and I want a turbo so the mk3 sounds like the one for me. plus I love 80's cars well you can always do the cosmetic swap if you dont like it. but if memory serves me right . the mk3 got a better lsd in 89. and also certain colors werent available if im correct. but if your going to get a turbo mk3 , its still not going to be cheap . projectsupramk3 10-10-2004, 01:45 PM Same colors, same LSD. The only different LSD was the JDM only TORSEN differential. The turbo drivetrain change for 89+ was a 3.73 rear gear. DarkStarRacing 10-10-2004, 01:49 PM Same colors, same LSD. If there were only 50 Geo metros built it wouldn't make them more valuable because there still a POS that no body wants. I didn't know I was supposed to list all the exact colors for every production year, yessa masta sorry masta!! Super White II Super White III Super White IV Super White Pearl Mica White Pearl Mica Amethyst Silver metallic Bluish Grey metallic Grey metallic Does that suit you yet, you say turquoise isn't a big deal but white and grey are? It's the same basic colors as I've already said, white, red, blue, black. DarkStarRacing 10-11-2004, 11:19 AM It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, not what some book says it's worth because of low production numbers. It's the same basic colors as I've already said, white, red, blue, black. their is a big differrence between turquoise and teal. and i never said book. and its all a matter of opinion really. blue book is a crock of shit for the most part. mkiii are listed way too high , mkiv's are listed too low. and if your in the market for a mkiii then 93% of the time your going to be an enthusiast. so that would be someone who is going to fork out the dough if they want a rare supra. P.S. you forgot black in your first list :P :evillol: :naughty: projectsupramk3 10-11-2004, 11:45 AM I don't think there is much of a difference in turquoise and teal, there both kind of :gay: IMO, right up there with pink and neon green. The color is called Medium Turquoise Metallic (paint code 749) and I said black in the last two posts :sly: . Agreed on KBB though, it is never right for most all sports cars, especially Supras but 93% of the people here in the CSRA who have MKIII's only drive them to get from A to B, they couldn't care less about what it is or what's under the hood. Also 99.7% of statistics are made up on the spot from my own research. No point in arging over opinions though, it's worth what you think it's worth, I personally wouldn't pay another dime for a different color because it doesn't make my car go any faster. :) Yellow 13 12-01-2004, 12:48 AM Sorry for bringing back an old thread, But I currently own 2 supras that run great and bought for under $2,000 each. Not to mention that they are both limited two tones (Blue/Silver) that look very nice. I would suggest going through a private seller, just because the dealers overcharge. Even in California its not hard to find an MKIII being sold for $2,000-$2,500. DarkStarRacing 12-01-2004, 03:20 AM most of the mkiii population is in texas and california and you can find them the cheapest in those two states if yopu go through a private seller. i bought my 89 turbo targa 5spd for 1800 and 100 extra for delivery from SD MKIII87Turbo 12-23-2004, 09:19 PM The only thing about the 86.5-92 are that they like to blow head gaskets. If you get one that is running, re-torque the head bolts to 72 ft-lbs. They are only at 55 ft-lb stock. I paid 2500 for mine with a blown head gasket and spent about another 1000 to replace it and most of the sensors, hoses, plugs, wires, etc. It has run great for the last 8 months with only changing the oil. If you do get the turbo make sure you change the oil every 3K miles. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
