I made the install harder than it should have been by not jacking up the car enough on the first one. This forced me to install the top (spindle) mount first & try to work the lower mount into the fork; this is a PITA cause the shocks are so d@mn hard to compress. It took my neighbor & I & 2 crow bars about 20 minutes to work it into place--lotsa bluddy knuckles.
One other note is that I had to grind down (by about 3/32") the metal cylinder in the shock's lower mount thru-hole in order for it to fit in the fork mount on the truck.
The ride is smooth but more bouncy than I was used to (stock t-bars, ARB, winch) with the RS9000s (set to 5 (4 is way too soft)) I replaced--I have more freeway bump-induced front end oscillation than I would like. I'm hoping this will change a bit when I install the NisMo t-bars (hopefully < 1 week from now).
Off road performance? I don't know, maybe I'll get a chance to try them out this Sunday.
Well, I guess if I don't like the ride after the t-bar install I can always put back the RS9000s--which I've been told (was it you Synchro?) work a little better when used with the stiffer t-bars.

i've been running these for a few weeks now and they have finally calmed down a bit. the oscilation you mention is a bit much at first, but it gets less after a while.

as for havng to grind them down. i didn't have to do that on mine. don't think will or mobycat had to either.

it was not be with the rs9000s up front. i think schlud used to run them and FSRBIKER still does.

Huh. I think my front lower shock mounts must've been right-on tolerance 'cause I also had to grind down the same cylinder on my RS9000s AND file down the nylon bushings (that was a b!tch!)

I had RSX shocks. Now I've got Bilsteins.

Haven't found a place that has awesome prices. any tips?

define "awesome prices." in will's review he mentionds a place to get them from. think with shipping they cost me $105 or less.

I got a good deal ($94 total) through my buddy's car shop (it's a mostly rice-rocket type of tire & suspension shop).
I think $105 is pretty good as carparts.com sells them for $60 apiece.

I was quoted 58 a piece locally.

I may try a few more places.
