Bias Ply Tires vs. RadialsGMCMudBogger 09-21-2004, 08:14 PM Does anyone here have 38" or larger bias ply tires if so how do they ride as opposed to radials, i.e. Swampe TSL's as opposed to TSL Radials? Curious due to pirce difference and I don't commute very much, I have a n 03' F350 Crewcab longbed 4x4 powerstroke with a 10" lift. jeverett 09-22-2004, 12:07 PM I know I have 35x15x15 bias boggers on my play toy and it rides like pure crap. I know its mainly the tread design, but I cal also feel the flat spots. Not 38's, but kinda close anyhow.. GMCMudBogger 09-22-2004, 12:26 PM Thanks for the info, I know boggers in general ride like knobbys on a dirt bike, And I know they don't make Bogger "Radials", Are they very stiff on the road as I hear they don't ride as smooth as a radial. But are better off road? jeverett 09-22-2004, 01:12 PM They are pretty stiff on the road, even aired down to like 20 psi, and the wear is horrible, but the traction off-road is incomparable. As long as you have the power to turn them over, they'll keep going forever seems like. They shine in mud like no other. :) GMCMudBogger 09-22-2004, 01:26 PM In the mud the Bogger is King no doubt, I am not looking for and such an aggresive tread pattern but something like the TSL SX or TSL SSR Radial, They should do OK in the mud rocks & trails. I'll use my truck mostly on the street since it is my work truck but I do go off road to get to work sites alot. jeverett 09-28-2004, 09:52 AM Have you considered the Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip?? I've heard pretty good reviews on them. GMCMudBogger 09-28-2004, 10:52 AM Considering what they go for and what else is availble, I haven't even considered them. Iam not saying they are not good tires but there 38" tires is not even 38" tall? its like 37.6 or something like that and I'm not too crazy about the tread, I have 37" X terrains on a suburban I'm selling and they are a good size for a "smaller" wheelbase vehicle. They look great on my Sub but will be too small for my F350 since it's about 4-5 feet longer than my Sub! I already have which tire I'll probably be getting, I just wanted some insight on a bias tire and how bad they ride on the street, All I need it my already stiff truck to ride worse and the wife will really be p/o after spendiag all that $$ to lift my truck and it ride like crap, I'll never hear the end of that one! So I am trying to avoid the whole scenio with an educated choice! It's funny after riding around in a truck w/a 9" list & 37's it seems normal and the only way to go is up. We'll see, thanks for the input. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
