whats up folks.
I deceded instead of talking about what i've been working on i'd post some pics of 2 new to be started projects and 2 stalled projects(not needing much to finish them). i've not really completed anything in a while since I haven't had a good space to work at(i've moved recently and have better space and more time to work on them) here they are..

1st is a street rod based off the amt ala kart kit. Similar to willimo's lotus 7, I want this to have a modern good handling suspension and a modern 4 cyl power plant, and to explore some building ideas i've not seen used in real life on hot rods much yet(carbon fiber body(decal) body panels, aero undertrays) I plan to get started on it more soon..heres the mock up..

next is going to be my pro touring falcon based off the mad max kit with the afx n scale resin trans kit with the required pieces for the 1st movie interceptor. (can you tell I like watanbe wheels?..lol)

the next one is my tamiya r34 skyline - i've had this kit for a few years now and the last work I did to it was about a year and a half ago its almost done but the airbrush paint job was rushed and there was some trash in it that I didn't like so I sanded it down and it is currently waiting a repaint.(may strip the body and put an sas kit on it)

and lastly here is my initital d sileighty - I last worked on this about the same time as the skyline model kit. I was trying to decide of I wanted to use the front bumper insert or just build it without it..my first primer coat was sprayed on a cold day and didn't do well so I sanded it down and am waiting to do some body work to make the add on piece look right.

please feel free to leave any comments or critisms about the kits...i'm eager and ready to learn from the great people up here who have inspired me to get back into the swing of things.

Hmm. I'm looking forward to the Lotus 7, the Sileighty and my favorite the Interceptor! Sorry, I'm just a little tired of skylines... Looks like you have a plan for all your cars, and I wish you best of luck. Where can I see more pics of your Sil40?

I also dig your Ala-kart treatment. That's going to be very cool. There was a sketchpad a while back in SAE, where they did up some Ford highboys with modern equipment - CF diffusers, modern drivetrain, inboard brakes and all that sort of stuff. They were way hot, I can't wait to see your interpretation. Nothing beats a full on custom like that!

what up folks..

86_SR5: thanks..and heres a link to some more pics of my car..

Purpura Delujo: the interceptor was off of ebay for like 40 bucks and the trans kit is 32 so yeah i've already got some cash tied up in it..its worth it though

willimo, ol' dude: i'm ready to get started on the ala kart soon..i've had the idea for doing this since I got the kit a year or so ago..and have just recently done some brainstorming on it. Its going to be a test of my scratchbuilding skills and detailing skills since i've not really taken on such a project but I'm hoping that my woking knowledge of full size cars and my skills from the cad/engineering field will help me. I've been racking my brain on how i'm going to do the front suspension...I'm big on cantilever setups like on the prowler and want to do something like that but i'm not sure how yet..lol. The rear suspension shouldn't be as hard to do. My main goal with this is to build something thats feasible in todays world with some old school flair but instead using some slightly more advanced materials and concepts..like if the So Cal Speedshop got together with Mclaren to build a track style hotrod..The body will be basically a painted carbon fiber(decal on the inside) shell over the chassis which will have some cool exposed caging in the interior. I plan to keep the bed but shorten it and keep the gas tank there, and I do plan to use a c5 corvette kit rear transaxle as the basis for the rear suspension and for easier mounting/locating of the motor which i still don't know what I'm gonna use yet...either one from the revell miata, or the sakatsu s2000(which I'm not sure cause I don't wanna steal too much from willimos lotus..lol) or maybe a revell honda redone to look like an sr20de or even and old school 4cyl with itb's and efi

If I can get whats in my head out on the model I think its going to be pretty cool...i've got a few other hot rod ideas floating around too...like a 32 ford thats already been extreme channeled over the frame with a cut down grill and stuff. thanks for the compliments guys, its gets me motivated to wanna get to work....when I get these going i'll post individual threads for them.

Thanks
Gray

Don't know if you care about realism so you can choose to ignore me.

I caught this while making my SAS R34. The Tamiya R34 VSpecII directions are wrong for the interior color. Having said that, your interior like many others being mislead by Tamiya, is for the standard VSpec.

Just an FYI, the VSpecII is all black. Some may not care but I thought I'd LYK.

Awesome start on all of them!

its cool..I appreciate the heads up..I was building the regular vspec...and I used some references from several magazines on the color..it may not be right but I was going for something that looked nice too. Thanks for letting me know since I've also got the vspec 2 kit that I haven't started on yet.

thanks
Gray
