Front wheel bearing replacement

Can anyone answer whether I will need to use a bearing press to disassemble the front hub of my Montana. Bearings started roaring on a trip this weekend and I am wanting to go ahead and fix quickly. I don't have a press or easy access to one. I am hoping I can perform this without needing. Advice welcome.

The hub bearing is replaced as a unit. It has an integral ABS sensor, so disassembly is not possible. The hub assy should cost somewhere between $80-$110.

Thanks for the reply, I actually pulled down the assy tonight before checking back on the forum. Once I rolled it around and looked at it, I realized exactly what you have written. I believe my problem is in the front left assy; however, I pulled both down to inspect. It isn't "real" obvious too me that the left one is definitely my problem...??? It does seem to stick and I do feel an occassional disruption to the turn when I rotate it. My symptom was a slight rolling noise gradually into a now roar. I thought my front tires were cupping so I rotated them only to learn it did nothing. Now I can turn my wheel to the left while driving a long and it slightly diminsihes, when I pull it too the right the noise slightly increases.

Normally hub bearings quiet down when loaded and get louder when unloaded, which would indicate a bad right hub. But since your left one is sticky, I would guess it's the bad one. since they both travel the same roads, I would change both if you have the money, as the left might just be the noisier of the two.

Thanks for the reply. I changed out the left as suspected and fixed my "roar".
