I was wondering if an MSD ignition would benifit my gsr, i know that they make the spark plugs fire for a longer rotation of the cam but would this make any sort of power or anything like that or just safer and more efficent or what??

if your car is stock or even semi stock then an aftermarket ignition wouldnt do to much good, the stock ignition is good for up to 250+ hp
