Seat Belt Motor/Track Replacement Instructionsmjp3475 09-19-2004, 01:55 PM My sister called me the other day & told me that the driver's side auto seat belt stopped working & is stuck. From what she described & reading on the forums, this is a common problem, and that the track & motor assembly needs to be replaced. So I went to the junkyard & bought one for $50. I won't see her for a couple weeks, and unfortunately the chilton/haynes manual don't mention anything about this repair. I'm trying to get as much info about this before I actually replace it, so I was wondering if anyone had a write-up or other web site with the instructions to replace the assembly? Any info that you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! ZRTech 10-18-2004, 01:41 AM Heya, I just replaced my seat belt motor/track last week. I know it has been a month or so since your post for instructions, but i figured why not. I am not gonna really get in depth with this, but I certainly can give you some peace in mind. It is one of the most simplest things i've done mechanically to a vehicle. You just take a standard screw driver to your side panels on the inside of your vehicle and pop them loose. You'll immidiately notice the motor to the seatbelt track as soon as you get the bottom rear panel removed. Keep in mind that you should remove the bottom panel first, then move on to removing the above one that wraps around your door. Be careful when removing the above panel/mold because I have cracked mine and had to get a replacement. The mold is very sensative. Once you have your panels removed, there should be one bolt near the windshield kind of hidden a little above the track. There will be a second in the center of the track and a third at the end near the bend. Then there will be two black bolts near the end of the track. Remove the black bolts and then you should be left with what i believe is two more bolts. There will be one copper colored one above the motor, and a huge torx bolt underneath. For the torx bolt you will need a T42 torx drive if my memory doesn't fail me. After removing the track and motor, be aware that there is a wire connected to a male connecter inside your fender frame. Just pull that right off. Oh yeah i forgot to mention previously that before pulling off the track and motor, that there are two wire connectors, one at the end near the windshield, and one attatched to the motor. Well, I believe that should be it. Good luck, unless you've already gone through the process without my instructions. And i said i wasn't gonna be detailed, hah! mjp3475 10-18-2004, 11:05 AM I actually ended up buying a factory service manual off of eBay, and you're right, it is one of the easiest things I've done to a car in a while.
