I remember someone saying that you could buy a new 1969 camaro for about $12k. They recently made them, if you have a link, can I please get it.

not to sound like a smart ass.. but the last time I recall being able to buy a 69' camaro was about 35 years ago..

You might be talking about a kit car maybe? im not sure..

I may be wrong.. but itd be a first for me too

Yeah legally GM can't produce anything with the Camaro/Firebird name until 2017 when canada pays off its loan, or it gets apealed or whatever in 2007 (which they are expecting) to the quebec plant that they were made exclusivlely in. They leveled the plant in 2002 i think it was. Blah blah blah but yeah, even if the plant where they made them was not turned to dust, the 69 chassis that was used was tossed quite a while ago...Im not positive on all this stuff i said but it's close at least to what i remember reading haha. I would love to find a 69 Copo Camaro for friggin 12k lol. Im thinking maybe it's a car kit you heard about.

I dont think I myself would unless i already had a nice car to use during the year or so i would spend on building the kit heh. It would be a good experience and all but looks like a crazy comitment and ive heard im not good with that. (from ladies at least)

yes there is a reproduction 69 camaro that comes in a box, with everything but front end parts, such as susp. and stuff, motor, trans, rear end and interior. basically a shell, it does include the frame though. Its listed price is 12000.00 , I saw it online somewhere, it came from a artical in a magazine.

I'm pretty sure its a fiberglass shell.

kenwood guy

then it would be lighter then ???

I would think so. Unless it took a rediculus amount of support to make it driveable. Unless you where just making an all out race car.

that idea sounds cool but the problem is thats if you get into an accident you have to replace the whole shell true???

even if it were all fiberglass, i'm pretty sure it would be seperate pieces so that if u got in a wreck the whole thing wouldn't be junk. also if it is made of fiberglass the frame would be steel, there's some support...

fiberglass love it or hate it???

kenwood guy

drvngstorm05

kenwood guy
09-18-2004, 11:36 PM
how about using it to replace certin parts of your car ie hood etc????

drvngstorm05
09-18-2004, 11:37 PM
hood, doesn't necessarilly need to be too strong so it would have a good value there, save wieght and stuff

Wouldn't it be cheaper to but the whole fiberglass shell rather than trying to find a good not rusted 69 body to replace? I think the fiberglass whole body woudl be cheaper to replace than even just a 1/4 of a origional...right? maybe...?

kenwood guy

I knew I would get something out of you

drvngstorm05
09-18-2004, 11:46 PM
i don't think so, shells are not cheap, i've seen camaro body parts (steel) at NPD for pretty cheap

LT1 Kayker

alright i was just wondering

korndogg

well fiberglass for my car is cheaper than original....but i will still go original because my car is not purely for racing. another thing is that if i ever get in an accident. im pretty much protected. but dont take me seriously right now cause im kinda messed up rith now.

kenwood guy

how in the preformence area would be faster because its lighter

drvngstorm05

fiberglass parts are cheaper i suppose, but i thought he was talkin an assembled shell... those are not cheap. and yes lighter would be quicker
