engine swap to a h22spank102 02-11-2002, 06:07 PM my freind wants to put a bigger and better engine in his 1991 CRX Hf it has a 1.5 in it now. He thouht you can put H22 engine in it but iam not sure. and if you can can you put a turbo on it. if not whaat is a good engine that you could put in it and make it fast. Marc-OS 02-11-2002, 06:27 PM H22 is a bad choice for a CRX. I would suggest a B16 it's an easy swap and has huge aftermarket support. sastanley 02-11-2002, 09:09 PM Hey Spank102, try this link.. http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/4gtech.html I agree with Marc-OS, the h22 isn't a good idea for a swap. It is possible but it is a LOT of motor for that car. It depends on what he is looking for tho. Speed costs money, how fast do u want to go? Good Luck  91zc 02-11-2002, 09:20 PM Originally posted by sastanley Hey Spank102, try this link.. http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/4gtech.html I agree with Marc-OS, the h22 isn't a good idea for a swap. Try a b series motor or a ZC or Sohc Vtec. All of these motors are good and each have a different level of difficulty and amount of money to complete the swap.:) Wagon4wdRTI 02-12-2002, 10:28 AM Good luck trying to steer that Bitch!!!1 That is toooooooo much motor for such little car thats like trying to fit a 8 banger in a 87 CRX and keeping it front wheel drive :bloated: Setanta 02-13-2002, 01:29 AM http://www.mothers.com/coolcars/customer-coolcars/coolcars_cstmr_pics/Eddies84CRX.jpeg    Owner/Builder Eddie of Rockville Center, NY Curb Weight 3200 lbs (stock CRX is about 1800 lbs) Powertrain Front: Completely Stock and Functional Honda CRX 4-Cylinder Engine (front wheel drive) Front Engine Drives Air Conditioning, Alternator and Water Pump Rear: 468 cubic inch Oldsmobile V8, roller cam, 4-71 supercharger Hilborn 4-port fuel injection Separate Gas Pedals (one is a flip down) Shifters for Each Engine Fuel Front Engine: Standard Gasoline Rear Engine: Racing Gas (CAM2) Three Fuel Tanks - Two for the Front Engine, a Single Five Gallon Tank for the Rear Drivetrain Front: Stock Honda Automatic Tansmission Rear: Toronado Turbo 425 with 10" Racing Converter and 3.08 Gear Ratio Cooling System One Radiator in Front for Both Engines - Coolant Supplied via Common Piping System Exhaust Front: Stock Honda Single-pipe Exhaust Rear: Zoomie Headers (Straight Pipes) Suspension Front: Stock Honda Front-End Suspension Rear: Coil Over Independent Tube Chassis Built from the Firewall back Wheelie Bars Tires Rear: 15" Mickey Thompson Street Tires Performance No formal time tests have been made yet, but owner estimates 0-60 in about 2-2.5 seconds, 1/4 mile at 9.25 and 160 mph on about 1000 HP. It handles perfectly straight up to 130 mph - top speed so far. This car does NOT sit in the garage and look pretty. It drives around town and looks "surprisingly normal." That is, until the rear engine is fired up... Setanta 02-13-2002, 01:31 AM Well, it's still front wheel drive... and rear wheel drive :D H22 = heartache. A waste of time 90CRXZCSi 02-13-2002, 12:43 PM I will agree with everyone. The H22 is a bad choice for a CRX. It's too heavy. Go with a easy motor like the B16 which is lighter and has more aftermarket support like Marc-OS said. Later down the road you can even turbo it and still have alot of power from it.;) jeef 02-13-2002, 03:32 PM how exactly can that front engine even pull the car around? thats a lot of weight for such a lil engine... now the rear one mmmmmmm techlxi88 02-14-2002, 01:14 PM why even go with a motor swap when you could just rebuild your motor and put a turbo/supercharger on it? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
