Hello,

I am very exciting because I have an offer from a family member to buy an 98 BMW 740 il. This is not just any car, but it is black, tinted windows, $3000 stereo system, $3000 rims and tires, and has been serviced at the dealership all its life.

The car is 90k, and the 75 k second run through has been completed on the car. He has had no problems, he has only replaced the radiator and brakes.

Here is what I would like to ask: I live in snow weather, would this be good in snow? Can I afford the car?

What do you think??? I have to make a decision tonight, he will give it to me for 15k. I cannot decide, maybe some support......

Well, first of all he is not "giving" it to you if you have to pay $15K. The 2nd thing is the car is rear wheel drive so "good in snow" is relative. You can augment its performance by selecting good winter tires like Bridgestone Blizzaks and downsizing the rims to 16 inch (you did not say the size you had on them now but if they are $3k rims and tires they are probably a bit oversized which is bad for traction control in snow). Other than that, a 6 year old BMW with only 90k in mileage is barely broken in. Enjoy your new ride...!!!!

Thanks for the confidence! I am really worried about the snow, and the fact that I have never driven a rear wheel drive car.

But, it is a great deal and I like the idea of joining the BMW family!!!

One other thing is that the car has a Airbag light on, should I be worried?

You should always take the warnings this car gives you seriously...it costs a mint to fix stuff if left to run in a defective mode. Take your car to an Autozone and have them sweep for the OBD (On Board Diagnostic)fault codes (the airbag light will record an error code to the computer in the car). You can then take your car into your BMW service center and tell them what that code is. It will help them get to the root of the problem faster...it might even be something simple you can fix but I would ask your service center first.
