the 86 differenceGilgland 09-14-2004, 04:25 PM hey what is the difference in the 86 corolla gt-s and the sr5? is it just the dohc and the sohc? or is there more? Can you convert the sr5 to the gt-s easily? 88novarules 09-16-2004, 03:28 AM the gts is rear wheel drive while the sr5 isnt, big deal when drifting. Gilgland 09-16-2004, 06:06 PM realy? cause when I looked on blue book it said that the sr5 was a fr too.thats why I asked. the specs came up the same on blue book. "1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S Sport Liftback 2D Engine: 4-Cyl. 1.6 Liter Trans: 5 Speed Manual Drive: Rear Wheel Drive Mileage: 100,000" " 1986 Toyota Corolla SR5 Liftback 2D Engine: 4-Cyl. 1.6 Liter Trans: 5 Speed Manual Drive: Rear Wheel Drive Mileage: 100,000" Lazyboyz4 09-18-2004, 12:02 AM The Difference is the engine, suspension, lsd, and i heard some interior but im not for sure. They are competely different in alot of ways. Go to www.club4ag.com to get more info. racer_in_black 09-20-2004, 07:33 PM They are both RWD, the GTS is the better of the two. It's the cheaper way to go and then converting it to a GTS Gilgland 09-22-2004, 02:44 PM ok cool. that was the plan(convert to gt-s)I found a sr5 for like $800 so i figure just up grade and id have a hachi. 88novarules 09-24-2004, 04:57 PM The Sr5 technicaly has a 4age engine, but there are so many varients of it. The trueno has the high compression, while we in the states get fed up the a and have to have the low compression~ good to turbo~ really i wouldnt get an sr5, its alot of money and time be patient and browse Ebay, also u could settle for a coupe... remember the years u want are 83-87 after 87 they became fwd, both gts and sr5 =(... its all about the LSD variant86 09-29-2004, 07:09 PM oh boy! okay I've owned BOTH so here's how it works sr5- had the SOHC 4AC engine, with about 80hp. It's RWD and an LSD was not offered from teh factory, and the bumpers are all one piece and unpainted GTS- has the 4AG and about 120hp, is also RWD, and had a factory OPTION of an lsd, so not all GTSs have an lsd. but suspensionwise the cars are both teh same. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
