does anyone tow with their Intrigue?

what is a good estimate of what it can efficiently tow?

The towing capacity for the Intrigue is less than 1000 lbs. I would not try and tow anyting over 900 or so lbs.

I tow my Class I trailer with my 600lb. motorcycle and it pulls just fine, even when I have all of my military gear in the car with me. I beleive they put the class II hitch of 3500 lbs for a reason over the 2000 lbs for class I.

I got a Draw-tite hitch. I highly reccommend the class II hitch over the class I. It only weighs a couple of extra lbs and gives you a more secure mount. You will have to drill two holes in the frame for two of the six bolt mounts. You don't need to do this but I highly reccomend it.

I had to file down the extra end of one of the bolts so it wouldn't bump a hole in the muffler.

The catch is that in overdrive it hovers right around 2 grand. The max HP of 215 and 240 torque don't kick in until around 4 grand so... When you hit hills or have to accellerate you will have a lot of shifting. when I get in this situation I end up just putting it in 3rd gear. the torque converter will still go in and out but you won't shift as much. When you get away from those steep hills, you can go back into overdrive.

So you are towing more than what GM recommends for your car??!! Good luck with that transmission if you are! Good luck with it anyway - even if you're not towing anything.

I actually tow less than 1000 lbs anyway, but I would feel fine towing up to 2000. as for GM reccomding certain limits. They say you shouldn't put more than 100lbs. in the trunk.

no more than 100 in the trunk, damn got to find another place to transport my bodies. Anyway, i'll probably just end up getting a truck to tow my boat. The intrigue is my wife's, so it'll just stay a commuter car.

LOL.....a commuter car!! Well, that's better than the people that use SUVs as commuter cars but this thing is too expensive for me to maintain as a commuter car.

yeah i think it is a gas guzzler. I got a 94 civic. 44mpg highway. when i drive the intrigue I avg about 23. When the wife drives it she gets about 18.

The way she drives... I wanted her to have a bigger car.

yeah, most of the people who drive SUVs have no business having them.
