hey guys just finished my 2 day FMIC project (SBR 2g Front mount intercooler). had a few problems, but i got er done and it looks mint!

Question: now that there is a big hole where the stock intercooler piping ran into the engine bay and no SMIC, I was wondering if i could custom bend some piping from the stock MAS location down through the hole and have the K&N filter sit in the same location that the SMIC sat.

Pros and cons to this idea, anyone done it? is there a better way to get cold air....will it throw off the MAS reading?

Thanks for any input

I've seen it done before by someone on Tuners...but when Kevin is running low 11s with the air filter in the same place, it doesn't seem like it would behoove you that much to move it lower.

In any case, if you drive through deep water, your fucked...I always laugh at my Honduh friends because they just love taking their downward-sloping air intakes through various hurricane flash floods, and they always call me to pick up their broken cars :D.

On a side note....we need PICS of the FMIC!!! With the same girl in your sig, except with fewer clothes!

It's been done a lot. If you want to do it, cut a hole and run a pipe down there. If you drive through lakes you may not want to. There have been threads about intaking water and ruining the motor. dre99gsx uses ABS plastic for a cold air intake, but you could use metal the same.
