Shpyder 09-12-2004, 05:48 PM All right, turbo spyder! u da man (finally). I would personally get it professionaly done. Got my 92 accord cleaned for $80...the entire engine bay looked BRAND NEW outta the showroom... northriverflames 09-12-2004, 05:48 PM I wouldnt do that, power washing can forse water into electrical plugs and then ull be selling a car that wont start or something like that. Put some elbow grease into it, a old rag, some cleaner, and an air compressor is what i use:P 96TSi 09-12-2004, 05:56 PM if you want it to look really nice, goto your local mitsubishi house and in the service drive, ask "make-ready" to detail the engine compartment. once every few months ill have all my vehicles done at the dealership. make-ready is the people who detail the new cars when they get sold dsmodder 09-12-2004, 06:05 PM get a few cans of degreaser and spary your enigne compartment minus the plugs and alternator. let it sit for a min or 2. then powerwash it but all yoru trying to do is get the degreaser off. degrease and wash the underside of your hood also. then go and buy some white dressing from autozone or whatever and spray everything. dsmodder 09-12-2004, 06:08 PM the white dressing will make even dirty shit look good trust me 96TSi 09-12-2004, 09:08 PM ^^works really good but make sure your engine bay is completly cooled down first or the degreaser will actually stain some pieces on your engine george536 09-12-2004, 09:22 PM i dont really want to do it myself i dont want to mess nothing up. if i pay some place to do it and my car wont start i can blame someone. lol but damn 80 bucks. 96TSi 09-12-2004, 10:07 PM dunno about blaming them but id take it to a dealer to get it cleaned, those guys do the same cars over and over so id imagine they do a really good job george536 09-12-2004, 10:26 PM how much do the dealer charge? dsmodder 09-12-2004, 11:10 PM i worked for a dodge detail shop last summer and believe me you are better off doing this yourself. it can be done in about 10 min and they will probably mess more stuff up than you do. we used a hotsy or basically a heated powerwasher. letting it cool down wont hurt but i dont think you want to wait at the local car wash powerwash deal for it to cool. trust me do this yourself. imtheoneandonlyD 09-13-2004, 12:39 AM hehe, i know a bunch of people at my local wash so whenever i want i get it for free. but its not that hard to do your self. george536 09-13-2004, 01:04 AM my neighbor has a power washer and he did it on his car. maybe he can do it for me. maybe ill give him like 20 bucks to do it. its not that much work is it? Shpyder 09-13-2004, 04:13 AM $80 in cali. I am SURE its cheaper in other states. I would HIGHLY recommend getting it done by professionals if you are the slightest bit unsure. dsmodder 09-13-2004, 04:15 PM here in CO we charged 40 bucks to steamclean the engine ashah000 09-13-2004, 05:15 PM Or you can buy your own steamer, not sure if any of you have seen the infomercials (sunnci steamer or whatever). They say you can steam clean the engine with it. george536 09-13-2004, 06:59 PM i hate informercials. i be getting stuck on them. ill start watching it and then juss stay stuck. lol ashah000 09-13-2004, 08:35 PM Well I think you can get it at home depot now. I think I saw it there, might have been another company though. george536 09-13-2004, 10:57 PM my neighbor is gonna do it for me tomorrow and also replace my valve cover gasket. :D for no charge so i saved myself there lol. thanks for the replies. BoostedSpyder 09-14-2004, 06:12 PM dude ... take it to the local Pay-and-Spray, pop the hood, put a couple layers of saran wrap on the intake filter and spray away. get the really greasy parts with a good coat of degreaser, then high power rinse it off untill the time runs out. it will come out pretty clean, clean enough to pass as very well taken care of. that is all you need is the impression that is well taken care of. just tell your prospective buyers that you do it every 3 months and you will be fine. oh and don't directly hold the water on the alternator or the spark plug wells for too long... just to be safe. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
