who would take it?cavman03 09-11-2004, 03:22 PM I have a friend with a 92 camy 4dr. [It has a 1.6L] and i have a 98 4dr 2.2 cavi, and he says he will blow me so i was wonderin who would win.. both cars are automatics, and stock except his aftermarket muffler :banghead: jayson716 09-11-2004, 03:25 PM I would have to say the camry I have driven both of these cars and a 2.2 4dr is slow as hell... and the camry does have a little get up for a 1.6 but i am sure it will be a slow win lol... RedCavalierRacer 09-11-2004, 03:40 PM So are you saying that the cavalier 2 dr is faster then the cavalier 4 door? i used to have a cavalier 4 door LS, it was not bad speed, the thing i liked about it most was the 4 gear tranny cavman03 09-11-2004, 03:43 PM i wana find a 2.2 super or turbocharged to swap in it lol cavman03 09-11-2004, 03:44 PM opps i ment 2.4 jayson716 09-11-2004, 04:40 PM i have one in my garage just needs new heads and bearings. but if you want to turbo or super it you should upgrade those things anyway. and no i am just saying the 2.2 in these are not fast. cavman03 09-11-2004, 05:59 PM how much would u want for it..... 2.4 right .... miles.... and how much would the head and bearings cost? jayson716 09-11-2004, 08:16 PM i am not sure. some1 told it would be better to just drop a new one in so i found one out of a grand am it 30 k on it and dropped it right in runs great. but the one that is bad i was going to build it up and i havent started it it had 57k on it when i spun a bearing. by the time it gets shipped you might be able to find one at a junk yard the grand am has the same motor and the sunfires might be able to find a good one for about 500 KJRich 09-14-2004, 09:32 PM 1992 Camry should have a 2.2 4 cylinder with about 135 horsepower, which is more than you have. Of course, the Camry should be heavier, too. I'd say it would be close, but the Camry would win. cavman03 09-14-2004, 10:25 PM he told me it has a 1.6 and i saw it KJRich 09-14-2004, 10:41 PM Don't worry, I'm not saying you're lying. I'm just saying what it "should" have. carman29906 09-15-2004, 10:47 PM i would have to say the cavy would win. ive run many camrys around my town and won there slow. KustmAce 09-15-2004, 11:38 PM he told me it has a 1.6 and i saw it In 1992, Toyota Camrys came with 2 engines. The 2.2L and the 3.0L. Base models came standard with a 2.2L I-4, putting out 130hp. Curb weight was just over 3,000lbs. In 1998, Cavaliers came with 2 engines, the 2.2L and the 2.4L. The base model and the RS had the 2.2L I-4, ranked at 120hp. The curb weight was just over 2,600lbs. Camrys never came with a 1.6L. In fact, the only Toyota that did come with a 1.6L was the 88-97 Corolla. Your friend is full of shit, you need to train your eyes better, and the Cavy would beat the Toyota. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
