1988voyager headbolts{3.0}DAVE K 09-10-2004, 07:27 PM i was checking a headgasket set online,{139.00}but also the site said new headbolts required{40.00}.Not that i am to much of a cheapskate but are new bolts really needed?if so why is this? yogi_123rd 09-11-2004, 12:33 AM Yes, new head bolts are needed. The reason has to do with the aluminum block of the engine and the tightening procedure. The bolts are made of a metal alloy that will "stretch" at a point when torqued (presumably so as to not over torque and rip out the threads in the block). Use once, throw away. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
