98 Camry Alarm-Car won't startluvmykdz3 09-10-2004, 12:20 PM Had to replace the battery and now car won't start but has all lights and everything. I KNOW it is the damn alarm, but my mother lost the keys with the buttons on it, so now regular keys are all I have. I don't know where the "black box" is under the dash (there is a lot of crap under there!) and need someone to please help me locate it and help me start my car. Mother of three with no vehicle sucks!! Already did the turn the key over and disconnect the negative on battery like Toyota told me and didn't work. Thanks so much. I talked to the dealer about my 96 Camry that would not start and he said to turn the key on and push in the red button on your dash about three times and that should reset the alarm. My was a 96 and I had a little toggle switch under my dash on the driver side by the left foot. I switched it back and my car started. I hope this helps. Brian R. 09-11-2004, 01:45 AM Do you need a special black plastic key to start the car? or will any correct key start it normally? Millerboy 09-11-2004, 10:18 AM Do you need a special black plastic key to start the car? or will any correct key start it normally? On my 96 I used a regular key. Your 98 may be different than mine. Do you have a red button on your dash? If so, turn the key on and try to push it in and out three times to reset. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
