If you are handy with a welder and a bit of metal fabrication, it would be a straightforward swap.
It is much easier if the '54 and the 455 have auto transmissions.

The 455 is quite different than what you have, so the 455 transmission, exhaust and intake manifolds would have to be used.
Keep the 455 engine mounts and bolt or weld them to the '54 frame. You might have to get creative with spacers, etc to get the height and clearances right.
You would also have to modify the transmission mount cross member or make a new one, to support the new transmission.
A driveline shop would have to fabricate a driveshaft for you. Hopefully the '54 has an open driveshaft and not a 'torque tube' design, which would make things easier.
Finally, you would have to monkey with the shift linkage to get the trans to work, and you would have to adapt the '54 power steering pump to fit the 455 block.
The '54 should have 6 volt electics, right?
Keep the 12 volt alternator, starter and battery for the 455 and get a 6 volt adapter, which would allow you to keep all the 6 volt dash lights, fan blower etc.
