Sticking TrannyRedCavalierRacer 09-08-2004, 05:28 PM One day i was driving down the road and just to listen to my exahust I punched it at a stop light. When i got into 2nd gear it usually shifts at about 65 mph but this time I heard my engine whining out and it finnally shifted at 80 - 85 mph. I dont know what that could be but everyone keeps telling me that my transmission is sticking. I dont know hwhat that is, but i hope there is something i can do about it, jayson716 09-08-2004, 08:15 PM well my tranny does that too. it will go to 6500rpms in every gear, it is an auto. richtazz 09-09-2004, 09:02 AM take your foot off the gas there speed racer and the trans will shift jayson716 09-09-2004, 03:38 PM yea i agree but when i run at the track i dont mind that getting max power at high rpms. RedCavalierRacer 09-10-2004, 09:21 AM Well i know that if i take my foot off the gas it will shift, i was just wondering if there is anything wrong with my tranny? or does a lot of peoples tranny do that? If i get up to 80 mph in 2nd gear you dont think that will blow my engine do you? richtazz 09-10-2004, 02:07 PM as long as you're not bouncing it off the rev limiter, you should be ok, but 6,500 rpm in a quad-4 is just asking for big repair bills. RedCavalierRacer 09-10-2004, 04:25 PM hey jayson, what size rims and what size tires are those on your cavalier? i like those. I was thinking about getting some rims for my car, but i don tknow what would look better. 17' rims or 18' rims jayson716 09-10-2004, 04:42 PM 18 i think 205/40s maybe i will get back to you but 18" rims RedCavalierRacer 09-11-2004, 03:21 AM oh ok, i was just wondering what size tires i would need to put on my car, i know at most 19's will fit but to much for tires ill just go with the 18's thank you jayson716 09-11-2004, 03:22 PM cool. 18s are nice. jayson716 09-11-2004, 03:23 PM also with 18s you can drop i think up to 2" without tire rub. RedCavalierRacer 09-11-2004, 03:38 PM I bought these things off ebay the other day and i dont know where to put them It says coil over springs, but i dont know where they go, it said it will drop my car about 2 inches jayson716 09-11-2004, 04:42 PM Read the section in this forum about coilovers http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=276008 Classicrocjunkie 09-11-2004, 05:14 PM ewww please don't tell me you bought those blue colored ones that they say you can put on a cavalier?.... Bad move. If i was you, see them and get somthing else! RedCavalierRacer 09-12-2004, 02:03 PM Oh, yeah i bought them but i didnt really want to put them in my car, i just needed something to buy real quick, i sold them to my buddy for 80, what an idiot huh? Classicrocjunkie 09-12-2004, 07:52 PM Eibach, goldline i've heard the best about. My setup is dropzone on KYB GR-2... I've been harassed about dropzone but i've rode in a sunfire with eibach and same struts.... ride felt the exact same to me...The only difference it that i saved bout 90 bucks.... But those coilover are bad news... good idea selling them. chevyz24 09-15-2004, 11:43 AM if u jus let ur rpms hit the max redline, u might be losin power at the track, the cars max hp might be at a lower rpm, so after that it only looses power goin into gear, u should let it shift where its supposed to for max power vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
