Water tempsdpetdog99 09-08-2004, 12:14 AM Hi everyone. I rented a TB about 4 weeks ago for a trip to Ocean City Maryland. Cool...they gave me a brand new 2005. 48 miles on the odo when I picked it up. My question is what is the normal water temp on the TB? It had the straight six in it. Once the temp came up, it stayed rock steady at around 210 degrees, per the gauge. Is that the normal temperature for it to run at? Seems kind of high to me. I was just wondering, it ran great, lots of power, enough room for the four of us that went. Way better than my uncle's Cherokee. Have a good one!! Dan Bullethole 09-08-2004, 09:56 AM Yep, that is normal. baskerj 09-08-2004, 06:53 PM I agree with Bullethole. Mine typically is between 190 and 210...(it will fluctuate). GMMerlin 09-08-2004, 07:22 PM Normal operating range is around 200-210....don't be concerned if it creeps up to 225...these trucks are designed to run hotter. dpetdog99 09-08-2004, 11:48 PM I agree with Bullethole. Mine typically is between 190 and 210...(it will fluctuate). Yeah, I guess I sort of kind of figured that. It's just an eye opener compared to pops Silverado and his old conversion van. Does it have to do with emissions? Run it hotter and reduce emissions? It was rock steady at temp. Ran like a scaled cat too. :smokin: We'll see if I can finagle one to replace my LeSabre. Of course, the significant other has a thing for the redesigned Expedition :nono: . Thanks for the replies, have a good one!! Dan trailsharky 09-09-2004, 12:30 PM mine runs around 210. needle is straight up I think gets there fast but doesn't get any hotter even in summer. The fast warm up is nice in winter for the heater. Bullethole 09-09-2004, 01:23 PM Better check.....I think the Expedition has a drinking problem! hywman 11-06-2004, 05:58 AM The water temp guage on all newer gm vehicles is pre- programed in the computer, even if you go to a cooler thermostat it will still show 200/210 degrees= most gm's are programed in the computer. Something about no fluctuations according to GM , Don't ask me why.. :2cents: zoris 11-06-2004, 08:51 AM I just purchased a new 2004 and the temp is consistant at 210. have about 300 miles on the TB. maybe needs to be there because it has aluminum engine. hihoss 02-15-2005, 09:18 PM My 02 is having trouble warming up on cold (20 and colder) days. The dealer has told me that the temp is expected to show cooler than normal on cold days. It normally is just below 210. When its 20 or below then it doesn't go over 150 (as shown by the guage.) Thats not right... the engine temp will not fluctuate 60 degrees due to the outside temperature being that cold. anyone else like this? Mine always runs at 210... on cold days (zero degrees) it still hits 210... just takes longer to get there initially. hoganradial 11-26-2005, 07:42 PM Mine runs right at 210-215, no matter how hot or cold it is out. I also noticed it heats up VERY VERY fast. It'll be at 200/210 within 2 miles, just jumping in it & going, no warm up. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
