I have a buddy whos tracker crapped out. The shop says that it tossed a timing belt and the engine is shot. I thought by now Chev would have been using a non-interference engine? Is this the case, is the shop feeding him a line of shit? 99TrackerConv 09-25-2004, 05:03 AM I know that the 1.6 had a Timing BELT and the 2.0 has a timing CHAIN Being a interferance or not I DON"T KNOW. joeB 09-27-2004, 08:28 PM You sure the 2.0 has a chain? I have a 93 two door Tracker 4x4 and I replaced the timing belt around 80,000 miles, which it has 107,000 now, but Im either selling it this week or trading it for a 2000 2 door Tracker 4x4 with the 2.0 engine. If the 2.0 has a chain, that would be better. Anyone here have a 2.0 engine and does it seem to be as good or better than the 1.6 engine? My Tracker has been very reliable. tzyzwq 09-27-2004, 11:07 PM it has a chain it got mine checxked 2 months ago and it broke on friday joeB 09-28-2004, 03:07 AM How many miles does your Tracker have? Did it do any damage to your engine since the chain broke? 99TrackerConv 09-28-2004, 04:59 AM I have the 2.0 and have no problems with it. I have over 73K on it know. I never had an older Tracker so I kdon't know how much of a differance there is between the 1.6 and 2.0 Sorry joeB 09-28-2004, 04:41 PM Its ok, thanks.. So your 99 Tracker is a 4x4? How is it in snow and off road? You have a nice Tracker there. 99TrackerConv 09-29-2004, 04:15 AM Great in the snow(but I need new tires) Never really been "off-road" but in the gravel, dirt and mud it's great too. (again rather not do it cause I need new tires) :banghead: joeB 10-13-2004, 12:42 AM I got my 2000 Tracker. Its a white 4x4. There is a big difference from the 93 I had. The new one drives better, much more quiet, and better ride. The 2.0 is alot quicker also than the 93 was too. One thing I never liked about the 93 was that wind would blow it quite a bit on the road. Cant even hear any wind noise in the new one. I hope this reliable like my 93 was. I have a question, how many gallons is the fuel tank on the newer Trackers? :) 99TrackerConv 10-13-2004, 05:15 AM My 99 2dr has a 14.5gal tank and I think the 4drs have a 16gal joeB 10-13-2004, 12:22 PM Thanks.. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
