CRX SiR in americacybercrx00 02-08-2002, 09:44 PM I was on a vacation in pheonix this summer and i saw a 4th gen SiR civic and a 2nd CRX SiR. Do any of you guys know were I could get information on where to get my hand on one, they were really nice. I'm guessing they have to be imported, and can they be registered?? marked001 02-08-2002, 09:47 PM ...are you sure you weren't fooled? I see supposed sir's everyday....which side were the steering wheels on? cybercrx00 02-08-2002, 09:52 PM they were both right hand drive and had what looked like leather interior, sir front ends and hoods, I'm pretty sure they were real 90CRXZCSi 02-08-2002, 11:21 PM They couldve even bought the JDM kit to have the steering wheel on the right side. Who knows. SkyNex721 02-08-2002, 11:48 PM My sister might be stationed in Japan and I was going to see if she could have a SiR CRX imported for me. I know that you are allowed to do that. I know that you are allowed to do that. hate to say this, but its no easy task at all.... heres the bastard government site regarding importation of vehicles... a real pain in the ass if you ask me http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/ Setanta 02-09-2002, 02:20 AM Originally posted by cybercrx00 they were both right hand drive and had what looked like leather interior, sir front ends and hoods, I'm pretty sure they were real This sounds very wrong. Only the Euro VTi CRX (150bhp B16A) had a leather interior, the JDM had cloth/vinyl. The Euro Civic SiR had cloth trim similar, but not the same as the JDM. Leather in a JDM wasn't an option except for a steering wheel. But... if it was a Euro then it should be LHD not RHD (unless there is one country that got it which was different to all the pics of all the LHD Euro SiRs I've seen). You might find that the Euro had better emissions control than the JDM if you wanted a LHD one. I *think* their designation is EE8 and EE9. If they are the real mccoy then the interiors have been redone. Not that I'm helping about the import legalities :) cybercrx00 02-09-2002, 11:43 AM I only saw them from the outside, so I'm not sure if it was leather or vinyl, if it helps, the name of the shop was called import powerhouse, it was in phoenix Moppie 02-09-2002, 04:17 PM Sorry Setanta mate I gota correct you on the leather. It was an option on both the EF8 and EF9s in Japan. Iv seen one Leather equiped CRX SiR, and Iv seen the Japanses parts book for the Civic SiR which listed the leather trim option. Its not very common of course, but it is however quite possible that some yank with more money than brains found one of each in Japan and shipped them to America. The only way to really tell of course is to lift the bonnet and look for the little blue build plate with EF9 or EF8 stamped into it. Because all the EF9/8's have it. :D cybercrx00 02-09-2002, 04:45 PM we still haven't answered my original question Moppie 02-09-2002, 06:27 PM Well I can get you one with out the leather. All I have to do is walk out my frount door. But I doubt you have enough money to buy the car, ship it to the states, then pay all the dutys and crap. You can have my car for US$8,000. Or if you want I can find another one here in NZ for about US$3-4,000 which is what a nice one is really worth. (but then you have to add shipping and dutys on top of that.) Honda doesn't list it as an option, just the steering wheel. Still, it wouldn't be the first time they missed it. I've only seen pics of the Euro though and only with the CRX, not the Civic :) EightOhOne 02-10-2002, 12:05 AM Um, i thought i answered your question...other than finding somewhere in japan selling one....click on that link and read read read..good luck getting it imported, youre gonna need it, well that and a lot of money kyle95g20 02-10-2002, 11:22 PM go to www.jdmhondaparts.com they have one for sale on their page...a right hand drive crx si-r. no price determined for it though. probably a whole lot more than it is worth and then you can't title it until you go through a whole bunch of crap...better off doing a swap on a beater like myself. i figure that after i put all kinds of time into a dx and get the right parts i can make a respectable 4g si-r for less than it would be to import one and then i don't have to learn to shift with my left hand. Setanta 02-11-2002, 01:09 AM I don't understand how you guys shift with your right hand... eewwwwww :D Moppie 02-11-2002, 04:03 AM Originally posted by Setanta I don't understand how you guys shift with your right hand... eewwwwww :D I agree, there is just somthing wrong about sitting on the left hand side of the car and using your right hand to shift..... :apuke: mellowboy 02-11-2002, 01:31 PM I was told that its illegal to drive ANY rhd vehicle in the U.S. The only ppl are allowed to do so is the mail trucks cause they work for the government. So its pointless in buyin one thinkin u can drive it here. I wouldn't even buy it for parts unless they were selling it for like 3g's? Or i would buy it if i was a collector? I still wouldn't buy it if u gonna be drivin it around the U.S. I think they will impound it if caught driving. ricodemus 02-12-2002, 10:51 AM I always thought the same about shifting with the left :). There's a dude on the partstrader http://www.thepartstrader.com that is selling 2 crx SiRs, and he left this link in his ad http://users.nac.net/nixem/sir/ velocityREX 02-12-2002, 11:19 AM there were 5 SiR's for sale on parts trader recently, i would have to say they were pretty sweet, witht he full glass roofs and all, but the guy said they couldn't be registered, they weren't sellin for that much really, but they aren't of much use if you can't get plates. Setanta 02-13-2002, 01:26 AM I thought only the CRX Si came with a full glass roof, not the SiR. Ah well... maybe I'm wrong on this one... Moppie? Moppie 02-13-2002, 04:35 AM Ummmm pass  Worshp? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
