1995 OBDI or OBDII Confusion??? HELP!BlazerLT 09-05-2004, 04:16 PM Confusing? Oh hell yea...... Ok, now I heard about the OBD1.5 stuff but this takes the cake. Here is my cliff's notes for you: OBDII DLC under the dash OBDII Type Computer on Passenger wheel well in engine Compartment. Sticker on Fan shroud says OBDI certified. WTF! Which one is it and can I use OBDII software to view my sensor information? Jeremy-WI 09-05-2004, 07:57 PM My AutoXray will scan it, but there is a special cable just for these oddball models SpitAndDirt 09-06-2004, 02:24 PM Sorry, you got the dreaded conversion year. 1995 is not quite OBD2 but is a slighly modified version of OBD1. Jeremy is right in that you need a special cable for these few models. Don't feel bad though, my friend's parent's 95 Tahoe is the same way. -Chris BlazerLT 09-06-2004, 02:31 PM from what I have gathered, an OBDII scanner will access everything. metallica21156 09-06-2004, 06:30 PM i have a 95 blazer that i read all of the time with the OBD2 plug with a snap-on graphing scanner. i can do anything i want. i can even shut the fuel pump off. BlazerLT 09-06-2004, 08:25 PM so you can read everything on an OBDII scanner? Sweet! metallica21156 09-06-2004, 08:47 PM yea. u can set the idle, egr and all kinds of things. you can turn the fuel pump off and even if you turn the key off and on it won't work.you can change all kinds of stuff. you can change shift points as well. i think it is the same if not very close to the OBD2. have fun but don't mess your settings up too bad. might damage something. i don't know if you can set the timeing but you might be able to. BlazerLT 09-06-2004, 08:52 PM I will be buying this just to monitor the sensors without changing anything. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2488753421&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT I wonder what I should get to do the modifications to the computer,,,,hmmmmm...... metallica21156 09-06-2004, 09:49 PM i guess it would work. on the 95 its a OBD2 connector that you plug the computer in. don't know if the programs would interact. should. i always just used the scanner and monitor the sensor that way. i think its around 3,000 bucks. but its graphing and it comes with everything you would need to scan any car. BlazerLT 09-06-2004, 09:52 PM lol, 3000 bucks versus 93 bucks, hmmmm, decisions, decisions. I have a laptop do I will use it instead. metallica21156 09-06-2004, 09:54 PM ask the people if it would work with OBD1 programing. if it will then you are set. BlazerLT 09-06-2004, 10:03 PM People have stated that it does work with the 1995. metallica21156 09-07-2004, 05:09 PM then you should be ok. it does use a OBD2 plug. nuts4bowtie 09-19-2005, 12:14 PM Sorry to horn in on your thread, but I'm lloking for a place to find the definitions of the codes for my 95 Astro. I'm reading it with a Auto Xray ODB 1 scanner and I'm getting a number 12 error, and check engine light flashes a 12 also. Can anyone point me to a site with the code defs? TIA blazee 09-19-2005, 02:06 PM It's at the top af the forum in big red letters that say important.
