Dexron II or Dexron III for the differential?nmikmik 09-05-2004, 03:31 PM Can someone please post here the instruction on how to replace the differential fluid. As I understand per previous posts, it should be using Dexron III ATF compare to Dexron II in the transmission (per manual) . I actually used Suppertech Dexron III Mercon in my transmission, am I harming anything. Please advise. Also is there anything I can do to extend the life on my AC. I can measure the pressure on the low side (have the tools) and add that "max extender" and some oil if needed. Just not sure how much and if there is no harm in the additives. Thanks, Brian R. 09-05-2004, 06:40 PM The best way I know of to extend the life of your a/c is to run it periodically (say once a week) for a short time even in the winter to lubricate the compressor seals. Once they dry out, your freon will leak out. They may crack if they get too dry. I wouldn't add anything to the system except the correct freon. If you replace parts in the a/c system, you have to add some oil in with the freon to make up for the oil removed from the system when you remove the part. nmikmik 09-05-2004, 11:35 PM What about the differential Brian? I guess it would help if I post at least the year of my car  it's a 95 Camry LE 4 The reason why I wanted to replace the differential fluid is because I doubt it was ever replaced and during recent axle replacement they tore the seal and it was leaking severely and I am also doubtful if the shop ever topped it off. Thanks, Brian R. 09-06-2004, 12:26 AM Drain it through the drain plug. Fill it through the plug on the side up to the threads. (around 3/4 of a quart). Specs call for Dextron II. I don't know if it makes a difference for the differential which Dextron you use. I would stick with Dextron II for the transaxle. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
