94 coolant leak-new mechanic?zaemaz 09-04-2004, 10:55 PM A few days ago I had a new real main seal installed. the next day, coolant was almost pouring out of my car onto the ground, I knew all it needed was clamp tightening on a hose but I took it back to the mechanic since after paying 600 bucks, I thought that he should do it. I lost alot of coolant. He didn't bother to fill it up. So I went back to have it refilled. I drove it to work. And yes, coolant is leaking onto the ground. Its not pouring this time, bust many drips in different locations. I put a carboard box underneath and found out it was coming from all over the front area of the engine. A Friend and I opened the hood and coolant was just everywhere. We could not view the source of the leak just by looking at it. But coolant is all over , even by the left tire. There is no milky substance in the oil so I'm pretty sure its all external. I'm taking it to someone else tomorrow to get pressure tested, but I was hoping someone could lend some advice as to where it could possibly be leaking. BTW it is 94 camry (4 cyl. xle) Brian R. 09-05-2004, 12:30 AM Heater or radiator hoses are the only things I can think of zaemaz 09-05-2004, 10:04 AM After getting it looked at visually (they didn't have the adapter for it to to be pressurized) I was told it was the probably the radiator, which really angers me since I JUST HAD THAT REPLACED somewhere else. Guess I'll have that reciept and car to hand to them tomorrow. Bmaintz 09-06-2004, 09:30 PM My '92 Camry 2.2 developed a leak on the seal that goes around the top of radiatorwhere you see the crimps... Tried to recrimp but ended up buying a new radiator... The top of the radiator is a plastic composite & this seal is under it.... Hope this helps.... Brian R. 09-06-2004, 09:45 PM That can be repaired vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
