Hello everyone!

I have an '87 Camry (1.8L 4cyl.) that has decided it no longer wants to start. There were no symptoms leading up to this. The engine turns over, but there's no spark. So, here's what I've done:

- checked spark plugs (cleaned & gapped)
- checked fuses (engine & passenger compartments)
- replaced whole distributor assembly (including coils)
- replaced igniter

All this and still no spark. I've also injected fuel directly into the injectors to ensure there was fuel.

Once in a blue moon (while testing things) I've noticed that it seems to get a single spark when I'm trying to start the car. Obviously I can't confirm that it was a spark, but it seems as though the engine wants to start when that happens. Needless to say, it doesn't!

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards,
Micheal

If no 12 volts on Ign. Coil then check your 30 amp FL AM2 fuse under the hood.... this fuse supplys 12 volts to the coil... If it is blown then you need to find out what took it out like your old Ign. Coil that you removed (do a ohms test on it).... There is also a Condensor hanging on the Ign. Coil terminal that could have shorted & took this AM2 fuse out (Ohms test your old one)... Keep us posted...
