Malibu Strut Replacementbcopeland 09-02-2004, 09:41 AM I am getting a terrible clunk when I go over train tracks, bumpy roads, etc. Also, now when I brake the front end sort of shakes, rattles and rolls. Could this be struts? Or could this be a need for an alignment? :screwy: treeman5 09-02-2004, 03:49 PM Highly doubt it's alignment...possibly a strut but my guess would be a stabilizer bar/link or ball joints. Either way, not something to mess around with...I'd take it somewhere and have it checked out on a rack. mihasya 09-02-2004, 09:40 PM hey i have same issue it rattles when i hit a bump i checked everywhere couldnt find the issue. but i hear something loose . Me to it seems to be coming from the front passenger side. johnholl 09-03-2004, 09:42 AM The clunck is the lower control arm assembly comming apart. Fix it now! Be prepared to spend some money. ViperJ 09-03-2004, 12:08 PM The clunck is the lower control arm assembly comming apart. Fix it now! Be prepared to spend some money. Any idea how much money :disappoin ? Also do you think this would be covered under an extended warranty? DaYtOnAt2 09-03-2004, 06:33 PM The clunk I was getting from the right front on my 2000 was the lower ball joint. There was no excessive play, but when raised by the frame and I whacked on the bottom of the tire to simulate hitting bumps in the road, I could hear/ feel just a minute amount from the ball joint replaced it and it took care of it. Could be any of the above though also. Had a similar noise from the rear that ended up being the upper strut mount. (62,000 miles) :banghead: Johnny R 09-05-2004, 11:04 PM In my case, the coil had broken. I could hear it every time I turned the wheel. Replaced both sides at a cost of C$750. Why oh why did I buy the Malibu? Brakes! intake manifold gasket! water pump! front coil! sigh, sigh. defreib 12-29-2004, 03:12 PM Can it be the rocker arm assembly. I had mine replaced, it was a recall. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
