do chevies have a rumble or a growl?

I was just checking to see if my car was added to the showroom on the superchevy website. I checked out a couple of other camaros. One guy said he was adding a 3" flowmaster exhaust to his car for the growl.
I have always said that chevy's rumble and msutangs growl. That is the way that i distinguish what kind of car just wnet by without looking. I like to think that my car rumbles.
Both camaros and mustangs have distinct sounds. I jsut decided to label them.
Just thought this would be a good topic for random discussion on the best camaro forum on the net.
Just wanting to know what everyone else thinks about my rumble growl theory.

yeah i would definitely have to agree, i've always thought of my camaro as rumbling where the stangs growl. funny but thats just the way it sounds to me too.

Damn,
I thougth that was dubai. I have pics of a safari I went on there. I was telling the driver that the other drivers were better than him and telling him to go faster and higer in the dunes than everyone else. We ended up in the side of a dune. One tire got knocked off the rim the bumper was half way off. The landcruiser was basically buried. I had a blast.
Beautiful place to visit. Are u from there?

Yeah even with my 89 C1500 with a gutted cat i did and a magna-flo muffler it sounds a lot more like rumble than anything else. Why is it that they differ in sound even with trucks and stuff but then most V8's and everything that are in either one have a different sound...? oddly worded but oh well heh.

mustangs growl because their bark is bigger than their bite.

the sounds could be different for a nearly infinite number of reasons: port size, port shape, valve size, valve shape, piston shape, valve lift, valve duration, intake type, exhaust manifold manufacture, y-pipe design, length of exhaust, size of stock exhaust pipe; to name a few...

Yeah i can understand why on my mad scientist frankenstein engine thats like 6 engines put together from parts, but i would think since the two are both major companies they would use some of the same parts for the mass production and all. I dunno just a thought.

they both growl to me, just different tones. like the stangs growl is like that of a jaguar, like a high tone growl. maro's sound more like a lion wich is why it sounds more like a rumble than a growl because of its deep roar.

SBC have a sound very similiar to there big block brothers just quieter. It's a much more low rumble than opposed to a Stang.

Thats funny that he says ford and jaguar sound the same, they are affiliates. I have always thought that chevy's rumble, while fords seem to have that dry bark sound to them. I for one am very sure of the rumble out of my z's exhaust.

I was on watch inside privelaged like that i guess. I still say my car doesnt growl. Sounds more like a rumble. Mustangs are throaty like they have larangitis or something. I still love the sound of a well tuned stang though.

throaty is a good way to describe it, it always just sounded like it was pushing out air to me, like it has patches of exhaust followed by patches of air if that makes any sense... i've always preferred my growl to mustangs throaty coughing...

Dont you mean like a pussy cat coughing up a hair ball.... I like the fact that I can set off alarms with the rumble of my 98 z28... Then drive by and say oops sorry...lol

i have the same encounters as i park in the deck at my community college, it sets off every single alarm i pass by, even factory ones.
