Supra engine/ New trans. for my 84 Celie?exileprophet 08-30-2004, 04:42 PM Ok, I was looking into the phesability of having an engine swap performed on my '84 Celica GT. But, if at all possible I want to put a supra engine in it, so I can get just that much more juice. also, I want to put a better transmission in it. Performance if possible, so that my car could support the extra power coming from a supra engine. My questions are: 1-2. Is this at all possible? if so which years/engine models would work? 3-4.Secondly, How much would I expect to pay for the engine, and how much would it cost for the install? (I would do it myself, but I lack both the tools and the automotive know how to perform such a task.) 5.Also, what types of transmissions should I be looking at? My Cel is already a stick, but if there is somthing with a 6th gear that I could put in it, it would make me uber-happy. exileprophet 08-31-2004, 09:52 PM nothin eh? v8mazdaduz10s 08-31-2004, 11:29 PM which model supra engine are you looking at.. 7mgte 2jzgte ??? whats your budget? do you have alot of tools, a welder, grinder, drill, etc?? engineer 08-31-2004, 11:45 PM look into finding a 5 speed 1jz exileprophet 09-01-2004, 12:09 PM which model supra engine are you looking at.. 7mgte 2jzgte ??? whats your budget? do you have alot of tools, a welder, grinder, drill, etc?? I dont even know, that's what I'm trying to find out. as far as tools go, I have none. as far as budget goes, I'm saving up a several grand for it. The 22RE that's already in it is going on 200,000 miles, the same as the transmission. They're both 21 years old, and getting pretty tired. So basically, instead of buying a better car, I'm going to make my Celica a better car. and if I'm going to put a new engine in it, I'm gonna put a much faster engine than the 100 or so hp that the engine in it is cranking out. same goes for the transmission. I'm just trying to find out if it's even possible. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
