Nissan Mike came up from Florida in his 6" lifted X with 33 x 12.5" M/T's to play with the big dogs in PA and ended up bending / replacing 2 tie rods ... good thing he had spare parts with him. :D

Do I even want to know how he taco'd 2 tie rods?

Then again, maybe that will motivate him to manufacture beefier tie rods for us :D

By having rims that have the wrong offset, no drop pitman arm, etc. Basically their lift still needs some work.

Just an FYI to everyone who cranks their torsion bars, installs the Sway Away ones or a lift from SLR, 4x4parts or Calamini...the right offset rims are critical. You will place more leverage/stress on the tie rods than before and they are the weak link in the Nissan steering design(the idler arm is a wek spot as well), if a drop pitman arm would have helped I am not sure...no one includes them in any of the lifts out their for the X. The old style Pathfinders can't use a drop pitman arm because it would contact the frame/suspension...not sure if we can either. So choose your rims wisely, there are a few people working on beefier steering parts for Nissan's but as you install these you must also realize something else becomes the weakest link...but with heavier duty parts all around your chances for carnage are lessened.

As far as body lifts go it is a pretty good kit with detailed instructions and all that ... I personally don't like body lifts in general. The differences between the 1 & 2" body lifts and the 3" body lift are major though - Gothamist can tell you more about that as he is looking into it.

If you are talking about the 33 x 10.5" TSL's that I am going to get, you don't need a body lift for them. They are skinny so they don't rub hardly at all (the main problem with the X's wheel well is the width, not the height).

SWEET!!! I was worried that I would have them here and just get to look at them till I got some kind of lift.

Email Swampy @ michael.girardo@avaloninternet.net and talk to him about the 33" TSL's since he is the only one running them so far, he can tell you more about how they fit and wear.

BTW & FYI - just thought I would warn you that you will have to crank your t-bars all the way up and have basically no downtravel to fit the 33" TSL's - but they will fit. I was just thinking that I should have told you that last week ...

No we thought about using their upper a-arms, then adding new lower a-arms with proper shocks, torsion bars and new hi-angle axle shafts but that idea was scrapped pretty quickly...all it took was laying under the truck for a bit longer and the idea for the EOE IFS lift came to me.
