Does anyone out there know about SCP Sponsorship program?? I was applying for a sponsoship and it said that you have to pay an $88 sponsorship packet fee in order to become reviewed to be accepeted. I wasn't very hesitant about it because i know that SCP is a good, reliable, respectable, business, however my dad thinks that it is all a big scam and he doesn't approve of me spending my money on it. Does ANYONE know anything about that business or that program and if i can trust it, please help

what are you plaining on getting sponsored in?car show, drag race autocros???

most of the time to get a sponsor you need to be a proven winner

like car show your car has to be built and have won shows....racing you have to win the big races nira etc..

I have gotten sponsored by them and u only have to pay the 88 dollars if u get approved for the sponsorship and they are a good company I got sponsored for 12000 dollars for my 3000GT but they will not even look at u for a sponsorship unless u have some form of competition under your belt. I was in car audio for 3 years and placed in world finals 2 years in a row so ya u need to get your name out their before I would even bother talkin to them.

Well I don't know if all that stuff is true. I was awarded a sponsorship, but I have really won anything. I did compete in a sound comp. that was held by what's there names you know the big people and I placed second. I lost by .7 of a dec. So relly I odn't know what to tell you. I think I was awarded the sponsorship because of what my goal is with this car. Good luck and you should at least try it!

I am really not sure about the company itself. I just recently got sponsor by them, like a month ago; offering me a $12,000 sponsorship though. Where I have to pay partial cash with their 12 grand sponsorship for parts and stuff. And my brother in law just got sponsored for his Evo VIII for 12 grand just like me. One of the representative that called me told me that, if I was approved for the sponsorship they would charge me, if not then they would refend my money back.

I own an 00 Integra LS, it was completly STOCK when I signed up with them, I have not attend any shows with my car or won any trophies and I still got sponsored. My suggustion is for you to just fill out the from and if you get accepted talk to the representative that may contact you and read your contract carefully and have some look it over with you.

i actually called them earlyer and got sponsored. They asked me what my plans were for the car. i already told them i had 2 current sponsors (corksport, Driving force) and he took down the info needed. he put me on hold and asked the lady in charge.

She said it was approved. The application fee was only 30 something bucks. The guy i talked on the phone with said the contract would be here in 2 weeks. I am going to have my lawyer go over the contract before i sign it.

The guy also said it was 55% off parts and labor. I was planning on building this car with my own money but if they help any its worth a shot. i mean they cant cost me any more money then i was planning on investing anyhow.

BTW my current car is a 91 Rx-7 ill give you a little rundown of my mods

13b S5 motor (89-91 rx-7's. came stock with 200hp) but with S4 (86-88) rotors (lower compression) with a Stage III street port, 3mm cryo-hardened apex seals.

T-72BB Qtrim .81/ar
microtech Lt8x
twin (2) walbro 255's fuel pumps
720 cc primary's
1600 cc secondary's
greddy 3row fmic
apexi N1 single exhaust
Racing beat 3'' dp
RE amemiya (when it comes to rotarys, he is god :D ) spark plug wires a few other things from them.

and thats all i am telling you :D I am looking for 500rwhp without nitrous. The car is currently undergoing all the work. i hope to have it finished by jan/feb time.

paying to get a sponsor???
sounds like a scam
99% of the time the will give you a part and you have to have the logo on the car for a certain length of time and appear in there booths at shows. THIS IS BIG COMPANYS THE 1'S YOU WANT TO GET SPONSORED BY
how would a company make any money if the keep giving away 12 grand to everyone that calls them and send them a check to register???????????
i'll call them and send them 80 bucks and get my moms hopptie hooked up if it's that easy???

JekylandHyde

If someone can truly afford to "sponsor" you, they will not need you to pay for anything.
Think about it, if they can afford to give you $12,000 ... why would they need $80 from you????

All these "deals" are is buying membership into a discount club (just like Sam's Club or BJ's).
You are paying for a discount.

I have several sponsors and I assure you they do not ask me for money ... quite the other way around.

Companies sponsor you to get their name out there ... Pepsi wants to sell more soda, Falken wants to sell mroe tires, etc ...

What product are they offering that they want to get their name out there for??
Their "product" is your $80-$90.

Don't mean to dig up an old topic but I had to post on this. I had signed up for the sponsorship and it's pretty much a scam. They aren't providing sponsorship. They are providing "discounted" parts. And the discount is really not anything. I just spoke to them today about a supercharger for my Mustang and their "discounted price" is 500 dollars more then what I can buy it from a distributor I work with. They say they are covering the difference between retail and their price which equals out to nothing. All they are is getting you a better then retail price. So in fact they aren't actually giving you anything. The fact they call it a sponsorship is a lie. If you want me to put your name on my car you are gonna have to give me more then crappy wholesale pricing.

I think it's a scam too! Last friday I called to speak to one of the guys in the parts department, but he was not yet and told me to call back. So I called back and I guess he is still not in. I ask the dude on the phone to give me a price on an AIR RIDE SUSPENSIONS. He told me it's going to be $2248 for the whole thing! Then I ask him, "What brand is it?" He told me "Its the TOP OF THE LINE STUFF!!" ask him to provide me a name but said he would have to look at it, but still said its the top of the line stuff. The answer was SO UNPROFESSIONAL!! And they carry only a small amount of products from different company products. Because I was trying to get some Velox rims for my ride but I guess he has not heard of them because he asked me where did I found it at? I'm going to try again and see how much I can really get from them, if they are ignoring me or not doing what they said then, I'm gonna find a way to get my money back!

wish us luck!

ITS A SCAM DO NOT SEND THEM YOUR MONEY!!! Like pony said, you can never get ahold of them, they always tell you to call back. I have had them as a sponsor for about 6-8 months and I have yet to recieve anything free or any good deals.

I called up a couple months back because I messed up the front part of my kit was going to order a new one. Number one the guy dissed the kit [the kit i have is hot www.cardomain.com/id/elixar, then couldnt even beat nopi.com prices how lame is that? Call again looking for rims and tires, once again had to play phone tag for about 3-4 weeks and when i finaly got to talk to somebody they had beyond horrible deals.

The $88 fee is for the dvd movie they send you, which is pretty shitty too. So pretty much you pay $88 for a dvd. Should I get my lawor involved?

Dude...Believe me...they are nothing but trash. I had to cancel my Visa because I had a charge of 87 dollars, that I finally realized that they took without my consent. I'm ripping up the damn thing. I seriously wouldn't even try....I'm just gonna file a fraud complaint, and I'll get my $ back. I'm ripping it up as I speak. Not to mention, my gf's dad took one look at the papers and basically said Hell No! He owns his own modified race team, and he said if sponsors are TRUE sponsors, they pay YOU to sponsor their stuff! Good luck...what a POS scam!

:2cents: I recently got sponsored by them and the money that you pay is not for SCP, it is a lawyer's fee for drawing up each individual contract as they become needed. the contract fee is $79 plus $9 shipping(or something like that). as for the idea that they won't sponsor you w/o prior competions under your belt, that can't be true b/c i just started modding my 94 cavy and haven't done any shows yet, but I do have to do the required ?4 shows this year. i've had local custom shops tell me they are pretty good company to go with. :2cents:

JekylandHyde
02-10-2005, 02:23 PM
Do you really think they need a lawyer to draw upa contract for EACH individual person? ... you make up one sponsorship agreement and change it as needed.

Do you really think that a company that can offer thousands of dollars worth of sponsorships needs $80?

Do you think Budweiser asked Kenny Bernstein for $80 for a sponsorship contract?
Do you think Diehard asked Dale Earnhardt for $80 for lawyer fees?

Companies sponsor race cars or show cars thar are out, that are getting attention so their product gets notice. What product is Sport Compact Pro ADVERTISING?? .... all they sell is $80 sponsorships.

It's lame. They take your $80 for you to buy into a "wholesale club" just like BJs or Sam's Club ... the difference is they do not give you wholesale prices.

I have a good 7-8 sponsors for my car and none of them have ever asked me for a dime.

This "deal" is no different than the photographers that convinve young girls they can be models if they only pay $400~$600 to have their portfolio shot by them.

Wow...I'm very uneasy right now. Last night I got a call from SCP telling em that I was accepted. Now I've never done any racing or showing. I 'm just slowly modifying my car and I wanted to see for the heck of it what they would offer me. So I went on-line filled out the app. then got finish and they said they needed my credit card number so I was like no thanks not doing that. But then last night they called me and told me that I was accepted that a spot in NC just opened they needed to fill it and they picked me and needed to verify some info. So thinking that ok this is legit they're goin to give me $12,000 thats worth $79 bucks. So I go on with the verification and the guy says that I will have my stuff within one -two weeks. Today I go on-line to get some info and I see these negative things. I also know someone who recieved a sponsorship from SCP and he got his stuff and his getting a body kit for free. Someone has got to have some answers and I will get them. Granted 79 bucks isn't a lot but its the point. I'm not about to let someone sit back and say haha stupid b**** she fell for it. My pride is all that matters in this case. and ya'll should feel the same way! I'm pissed

SpecialKay,

Doesn't it strike you as odd that a business would want to sponsor a car that has never showed or raced?

What product or service will you be advertising for them? What is their "business" that they are trying to promote?

If they can afford to give you $12,000, why on Earth would they need your CC number and your $79?

The sponsors I have given ME cash or products in exchange for advertising their businesses on my car. I was only able to get sponsorships after several years of racing and making somewhat of a name for myself.

I wish you well.

They told me the same exact thing. I also live in NC and they told me a spot had recently become available and if I didn't pay the 80 bucks that it was going to go to someone else. That it also had to be put on some type of credit card. So fearing for my "sponsorship" I managed to convince a friend to let me use his buisness Visa card. Then when I FINALLY got the info in the mail w/the "special" DVD it was a list of only 5 websites that you're allowed to order from. Having a 2nd gen Cavalier, ALL of the sites are of no use to me since they only have parts for 3rd gen. Unless, of course, I were interested in more audio/video for my car, which I'm not. So I now look at it like this, it was $80 worth of experience that a sponsor doesn't need you to pay for your own sponsorship. They, supposedly, pay you. With or w/o my "sponsor" I'm still working on my car-it'll just take more time and money. And when I get into the show circuit, then maybe I'll get noticed by REAL sponsors.

As for the statement that someone got a body kit for free? Sounds funny to me. According to SCP you get DISCOUNTS on stuff which is why u can only order from certain sites b/c you still pay the price that is listed.

SpecialKay

Well I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I will wait the estimated week for arrival of my contract and kit, read over it very closely and decide from there. The guy that said he is getting the body kit for "free" from SCP might get a slap in the face from SCP when they send him a bill. I don't know. You're right about them needing the 80 when they are giving me 12,000. I should've just said deduct it from the 12,000 or put it on my tab. I'll find out if they hold their word.

Before I sign the contract and send it back I want to talk to a human being at the company. Your car is 100% stock and you have no experience ...

... does that sound like someone a legitimate company would want to sponsor?

moman87
05-22-2005, 11:18 PM
depends... if they are a company looking to help out a TRUE car enthusiast, help out a poor kid like me that is BARLY able to get by... yes... makes them look good to help the "unlucky" such as my self. i only accuired a 2001 stang by chance that i got in a car accident in my mothers vehicle, and the insurance covered more than enough for ehr to get her explorer, and the down payment for my stang... do i know how and what i want to do to my car... YES... so why not sponsor me, i am willing to do what it takes, i know how to race, jsut have not dun it, i know how to built a class winning show car, but have no money to do it! so why not sponsor me?

JekylandHyde
05-23-2005, 05:08 AM
So you think this company is sponsoring you (and thousands of others like you) out of the kindness of their heart?

Ok, let's run with that.

Then ask yourself this. Why are they trying to look good? What are they selling? What is their product or service? In fact, what is their "business"?

Their business is collecting $80 from people who are willing to pay $80 to say they are sponsored.
If you give me $80, I will gladly sponsor you as well.

I have over a dozen sponsors and I have never given any of them money.

I am baffled that people think the racer would ever pay the sponsor. The whole point of sponsorship is to get money or service from the sponsor.

moman87
05-23-2005, 06:48 AM
it is simply also that you are giving CarSponsorships.com the 80$ to get you sponsorships from OTHER COMPANIES, such as Spoirt Compact Pro

JekylandHyde
05-23-2005, 07:20 AM
Again, why would the racer have to pay for sponsorhips?

What is Sport Compact Pros product or service?
What do they sell? .... how do they make money?

$80 ... a pop. They are reeling in the dough.

mo, i was once like you. before i realized how useless this sponsorship is, i argued that everything was well and good. that it was all for a reason. that the $80 was for lawyers fees to write up each contract and that when they told me i was up for a spot that "just opened up" i didn't want to let it slip away again. I recently went to a H.I.N. show near my hometown and saw several cars with the SCP logo. I thought to myself, either they're just as gullible as i was, or maybe they can actually make it work. (mostly the first) if you've already paid the 80 bucks, then R.I.P $$$ :twak: if not, then DONT DO IT!!!

I filled out the form but stopped short when they wanted me to give them 88 duckets. That is when the first red flag came up. I forgot all about it and went on with my life. Then today I got a call about 7 EST on my cell which is the number I left on the form. The guy on the other end was very unprofessional and proceeded to ask me if I remembered filling out the form. I was like sure (remembering the huge red flag). He proceeded to tell me I was approved for 10g's (for a split second I thought maybe these guys were legit) then after he finished telling me that I would get 10g's in discounts on parts from their affiliates. Then he said that I would have to roll with their vinyl on my ride, attend 4 shows a year... (dosen't sound so bad) Then he proceeded to try to get me to pick out the color sticker I wanted. When I pressed him on emailing me some pics of the selection or a link on their site that I could check out the colors he had no answer except... why dont I just send you the white and if you dont like it call me up and I will get you whatever color you want. (second red flag) Then he came at me with the lamest attempt to get the 88 bones... I asked if I could send it in with the contract, once I had a chance to review it. He said that the money was for legal fees to prepare the contract and then he went on to say later that the fee was refunded back to me with a tax deduction voucher (shuuuurrrrre, whatever man) I told him to call me back on friday when I get paid. Actually a stalling tactic, you see I got ripped off a few years ago and I tracked those F's down all the way to calli and got their local police investigating them. If you look up their (get sponsored . whatever)webhosting server it is located in Amsterdam (third red flag... offshore hosting so it is harder to trace)

OrgID: RIPE

by the way the phone number they called me from 3028923356
comes up as a verizon wireless number in Wilmington, DE on a reverse phone number lookup. well... A... the 80$ goes to CarSponsorships.com, and agency that helps you get sponsored, they hold the $$$ from OTHER COMPANIES like Bluapunkt, DecalKits, etc... and get you hooked up with them, the 80$ is for legal fees, you gotta pay the scout to find the company. JUST LIKE SPORTS! colleges pay scouts to find their next best players. you p[ay CarSponsorships.com to find YOU a sponsor! my sponsorships i have been awarded are not even SCP, so SCP and CarSponsorships.com are not one and the same, i got one full sponsorship form DecalKits, and a Quasi from Bluapunkt. so far ma attourney has gone through everything and says it is all LEGIT

Sport Compact Pro "Sponsorships"
READ IT

A friend of mine that now lives in Indiana called me up a few years back and says "Dood, I got sponsored by RacerX!" This was the first I'd heard about RacerX. I thought maybe it was some obscure car magazine that had just slipped through the cracks, or maybe it was some parts company that I just somehow failed to hear about, neither were likely, but stranger things have happened. When I asked him what they sold, he told me he didn't know. Now, at the time he had a nearly all stock 240SX with an exhaust, shift knob, and big plans. Of all of the kids I knew that said they were going to do all sorts of cool things with their Civics, Probes, and Integras, he was the only one I believed. In good reason. I thought maybe by some miracle and a big stretch and possibly the right connections, some manager somewhere saw the potential and decided to sponsor him. Eventually he put a RB20DET in his 240 and did masses of upgrade work, and now is well on his way to getting shipped overseas to become a certified Porsche technician. He was never the kind of guy I would expect to fall for a scam, but I was very skeptical. He said he had to pay some sort of fee and place at least 2 decals on his car but then he got all sorts of discounts off of retail on parts. I replied with "Discount off of retail, like MSRP? Because nobody sells at MSRP... It can be hundreds lower, you know that?" He, again, admitted he didn’t know the full details, and I didn't want to rain on his parade, so I tried to stay away from being cynical. I asked him if he had to go to any shows, or if he had some commitment to win, something to get maximum exposure, how his sponsor got all of their money that they were apparently throwing at him en masse back through advertising, and exactly what they were even advertising? About the only thing he could think of were the decals he had to put on and he had to go to a few car shows a year, but they didn’t care to have any proof that he went. For almost a year he drove around with RacerX stickers. He ended up never using the "Sponsorship", even with literally close to ten grand dumped into his car from a host of manufacturers. When half a dozen of my friends started to talk about how they got sponsored by RacerX too and that they could win a Skyline and that in itself justified paying the small “cover costs”, I had a scam, or at least a good hustle, fairly pegged. Sooner or later, all of my friends realized that they threw however big of a wad of cash down for nothing to get essentially nothing and the whole big ordeal of seemingly half of everybody in town getting these huge sponsorships died down fairly rapidly. To be honest, I can’t remember one person actually using this “sponsorship”.

Now I’ve been starting to hear some buzz about ”Sport Compact Pro” being this huge sponsor. I instantly thought of RacerX, after hearing even the smallest details, and when I saw this post (http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=79060&page=1&pp=30) in the MR2OC forum, (Sorry, you may have to sign up to see it), I was sure. The “sponsoree” Received a letter stating that they did accept your sponsorship, and that “We just want to remind that we had charged you $88 for the contract fee, however this is tax deducible since 100% of the proceeds go to victims of illegal street racing.”. This new company, Sport Compact Pro, is even more blatantly obvious about their scam than RacerX was, who at least offered a coveted and rare car for your money.
They don’t even offer you free decals, which I personally know to cost less than a dollar each, but charge you $79.95 or $88 to “cover decal costs” and “Legal fees” to write up the contract (which is laughable. They have to have a lawyer write it up once, and once only. And do you have any idea how many people SCP is “Sponsoring?” I doubt it cost a few hundred thousand to write up one little legally binding contract that says they get to keep your money if you want it back), and probably a little bit to cover the cost of this awesome free DVD that they send you. You’d better like it, by the way, since it’s the only tangible thing you’re going to be getting out of this “deal”. The victims of illegal street racing that they pay; that’s not only a slap in the face, but I see that as a personal “fuck you” to everybody who is gullible enough to shove their hard earned money in the pocket of this greedy and exploitive company. No, it’s not tax deductible. No payment is tax deductible unless you are a church or a non-for-profit group paying a business. Unless you’re donating to a non-for-profit group, which this company is not. It is not tax deductible, you don’t get the money back. Even if I’m wrong about the aforementioned statement, you still won’t be able to deduct it, you won’t get that money back, even in the form of taxes. If you don’t believe me, go to the Official IRS List of Tax Exempt Organizations (http://www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=96136,00.html) and search away. If it’s not there, the IRS won’t honor it. And after an hour of searching, I didn’t even pick up a scent.
Recently, I happened to grab some random car magazine off a grocery store shelf, attracted by the spider-design style decals on the featured cover car, and as I was leafing through it mindlessly, I nearly laughed out loud when I saw a full page advertisement for Sport Compact Pro’s Sponsorship Search!
Companies, corporations, businesses do not search you out to take a sponsorship. That’s almost worth repeating over and over. And if you still don’t get why, here’s the general idea behind a sponsorship… A company that sponsors you wants one thing out of you: advertisement. They don’t care about anything else. Trust me, they do not want to “hook you up”. At all. They want cheaper advertisement, and if you want them to sponsor you, you have to make them believe they’ll get more exposure out of you, to people that actually want to buy their product, and it will be cheaper for the company to do it this way than some other way or ways. These companies, they pay you to get sponsored, not the other way around. Even then, most companies, especially big companies, won’t even give you the time of day. And if you have much less than jaw dropping, or if you can’t talk very very sweet to them, (bear in mind that this one still requires a very nice, unique car), chances are they’ll laugh at you. They want people to like your car, see their company’s name on your car, and buy the product that they’re selling. Sport Compact Pro just blatantly doesn’t have a product, or a service, or anything else for that matter except a “Sponsorship”. They’re literally selling sponsorships. Ask yourself why in the world they need your car and why they want to use it to advertise nothing at all, since that’s what they’re selling? The biggest kicker is that if they can easily slap down twelve thousand dollars, which appears to be everybody’s magic number, to just throw in gobs at your car, why in the world would they need a seventy to eighty dollar up-front fee? This is a twisted version of a pyramid scheme and a Ponzi Scheme mixed together. Look either or both up and address the similarity. They take your money and give you nothing. If you buy something from them or their list of authorized vendors or they pay part of your cost, chances are they still aren’t losing any money. Especially if they want you to buy the parts from them, I would almost bet my car they’re making profit off of the parts that get sold.
Chances are if you fell prey to this elaborate and lavish scam, and sent them your wad of McDonalds money in the high hopes of getting your early 90s stock Probe a big name sponsorship, and then want the money back, they’ll avoid you for weeks. If you’ve already signed the contract and want the money back, you’re S.O.L, although if they have your money, you probably are anyways. By the way, the sponsorship only lasts one year. So get all of the parts you can as fast as you can. Their discount lists are probably just as bad as their sweet talking and when you call to order you’ll likely get neglected for weeks before being gravely disappointed that you could have already bought the parts you wanted at a local or online shop for less, even with their amazing discount. Please, because I care about the people that post on these forums, and their money, because it’s probably just as valuable to you guys as mine is to me, don’t feed this lying company that’s only looking to exploit your dream of being sponsored. I will guarantee you with every ounce of truth in my body that it is not worth it. I hope this helps SOMEBODY not be a sucker.

He already stated that is car is stock and he has no experience.

Here is my story of getting real sponsorships that I wrote in my monthly newspaper column:
http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/columnsponsor.htm

As Cyprus106 pointed out, a "full sponsorship" costs you nothing. A partial sponsorship may be a business splitting some costs with you.

What do I know though? .... I've only taken in $7,000 or so in sponsorship in the last year. My sponsors have supplid me with parts, service and cash that cost me nothing.

Why did I get sponsors? .... becuase I already had a proven car that was entering events on the national level and I have a strong Internet presence so my sponsors know they will get coverage.

ONE: i did not receive my sponsorships from Sport Compact Pro...i got them form Blaupunkt Audio, and Decalkits.com. my 80$ went to CarSponsorships.com... a company that find you a sponsor, i even called Blaupunkt and asked a sponsor contact and she said that i was on their record, same with Decalkits.com...i DID NOT call Sport compact PRo(i aint sponsored by them), or call CarSponsorships.com

moman87

TWO: my full sponsorship from decalkits.com is legit, i got over 600$ of vouchers to use for their items, to get me started with them.

Three: my Quasi sponsorship is from Blaupunkt USA Audio... they give me less that wholesale prices... i display their logo, and send drawing/sketches/etc.. of what i want to do to my cars audio/visual system and they then decide to sponsor me or not!

Cyprus106

What are the terms of these "vouchers"? You didn't pay ANY money and you got $600 worth of "vouchers" to use with them. And when using these "vouchers" you don't have to pay ANY amount of money... All you do is give them these "vouchers" and they're same as cash? Do'nt assume I'm undermining you, I'm just trying to understand.

moman87
05-27-2005, 02:10 PM
simple...i first have to apply 2 of their decals(2"x5") and send a picture of their logo on my car, and after i receieve waht i get for the first voucher, to redeem the second i must agian show a current picture with my car, their logo, and waht ever it is i bought all installed.

Cyprus106
06-02-2005, 12:07 PM
So you don't pay a dime, not for the stickers, not for the "vouchers", nothing... And they give you free stuff. That's it. Any links to back up this claim? Like I'm assuming the terms of this agreement are in writing somewhere. May we see them, please?

For the fact I drive an '89 Isuzu TF-R(pickup), but it's extenseivly modified(engine, suspension, brakes, body and interior), nothing ricey though, mainaly JDM and performance, but who the hell would sponost a vehical that there is nothing avalable for?

But they are just there to sell you parts. They are one HUGE scam and should be put down for that.

Alright guys so I have been sponsored to drop a ford crate v8 and convert it to rear wheel drive....

Now comes the bullshit about the sponsor..
It's sport compact pro..
Now Stop the tsking and sighs and jeers..
These guys are legit
The previous owner has been ripping people off...
That I can't deny..
That is why he is not around any longer.
The guys at sport compact are very kind respectable and generous..
The contract proceesing fee is legit..
They draw up personal contracts for EVERY PERSON
No car sponsorship is the same...
and the fee IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE!!
Take it from someone who does his own taxes...
1099 at the end of the year
Independent contractors contract
The guys who talk all this shit are people who wanted stock cars sponsored, and they got the sponsorship because these guys wanna help the little people out... The people trying to get their project off the ground. Why hate on people being helpful...
Also the complaints about them not having any parts in the wholesaler catalogues they provide....
If they don't provide it Sport Compact Pro WILL FIND IT!!
I know for a fact that dave from sport compact spent about 4 hours last night looking for an m3 styling kit for one of his sponsored supras...
So how can you talk shit when you haven't spoke to these people personally...
And about the people not being able to get ahold of their sponsor, Think about it... If you had 25 cars you had to find parts for and maintain that they are keeping their end of the bargain.. You would be hard to get ahold of too.

So all in all I am very confident about my sponsorship from sport compact pro.. and if you did have a problem with them look at www.bbb.com (better business bureau) and look for yourself, they have been working hard since the previous main shareholder had fucked things up...
And all you naysayers are just fueling the fire...
So you guy's can keep driving your beater 94' integras

I'll call you when I break 6's with my sponsored focus

aight, ive heard too much on both sides about this company, can anyone come up with a straight answer???? my friend from ga got her contract and all that, just hasnt sent it in yet. i got a call today from them saying i got accepted for 10 g's. if anyone can show me a pic of a car thats hooked the fuck up with an scp sticker on it, then please do so. i dont know if i think scp is bullshit or not. if i give them $88 and get an $88 discount total on parts, then im not losing shit am i...didnt think so. so just cus they dont give you $10g's, dont call it a scam, its called partial sponsorships, they do exist. now someone give me some real info on them so i can be on my way to fixing my shit up myself or getting shit half off. i want proof of someone getting ripped off or someone getting hooked up, this back and forth, ahh they are a rip off...nah they hooked me up with all this shit, its stupid...evidence people, come on!

ps. did anyone ever think of contacting the numerous well known companies that they claim they are affiliated with? ive e-mailed skunk2 so far to see what they know about scp...they say they got the hook up with all these companies, go to the companies about it.

man, im aware of what sponsors looking for people that already have a name are like. but these people will pretty much "sponsor" anyone. i dont consider it a sponsorship because youre basically getting a discount on some parts here and there but not payed just to wear their name...like i said, if you get up to $80 discount total..then what do you have to complain about. i was asking if they hold up to their end of the deal, which is to hook you up with shit for cheaper than you can get it most other places. granted, you have to go through them unless they cant find a part for your car by a company they are supposedly affiliated with, you can find your own price and get a discount or some shit..i dunno all the details. all i want out of this "sponsorship" is parts to build a motor up and rims, other than that, i can finish the rest of the car on my own. i think the really big sponsors are fucking bullshit, they look for the elitest "tuners" or w/e who have already hooked their car up all the way. in all honesty, if i were to finish my car, and some company like skunk2 or someone came to me and offered me a sponsorship, besides saying "youre a little late", id tell them to lick my ass. im looking for someone to sponsor my ideas that will garuntee me best of show and with the motor im trying to build, ill have the best of both worlds. sponsors should stop looking for people who already have a name, and pay attention to ANYONE with original ideas who doesnt have a criminal record for imbezling or some shit. the ideas i have to "finish" my car are very unique, as in, never seen it done before ever, but i know its possible. i want to keep my shit clean, but blow people away at the same time. i dont care too much for outrageous conversions that take it too far, but simple conversions that make a positive impact on the way your car is viewed. i know its almost impossible to get someone serious to sponsor someones idea...but dont bash me..spread the word. none of my ideas start out with, i wish i could do....they all start out with, im going to do..

what my real question is i guess, does ANYONE know ANYONE that will listen to someone's ideas (like myself or anyone that feels they have original ideas) and consider sponsoring them so they can turn their ideas into a reality. i dont mean ideas like a lambo door kit or something, im talking about ideas that WILL win best of show. ideas that will make pioneers of the industry back you up. in order to build a show/race car you have to pay attention to what gets the most recognition..which i have done, but added my own twist to. im very active in the lifestyle/scene whatever you wanna call it. im about to go to nopi this coming up weekend which is about 7-8 hours away from where i live. i attend every show that i hear abou that is no more than 4 hours away with the exception of nopi (because its nopi..come on). im done, i may be no one right now..but that could all change, just need to talk to someone who is as enthusiastic about all this as i am. later

I came across this site by accident and I am glad I did. I have been sitting here reading this forum and I am really surprised of the crap people talk about what they don't know. You can'y provide heresay to someone who needs a serious answer. First let me say that I am sponsored by SCP and a scout meaning I get paid for every successful app that I get sponsored. I actuall applied to SCP twice. The first time I did not send the contract back because I did not want to be under contract for a year. The second time I thought I am going to customize my car anyway, and attend shows so why not. I paid the first time and I did not pay the second time.

Now let me explain the difference between full and partial sponsors. Full sponsors for the most part, pay for everything requiring you to pay for nothing. the only con to this is most of the time, you don't get all the parts you want, you get what they can give you. So its more like there dream right? A partial sponsor helps you throughout your project, pays for some labor and some parts leaving you with the other half or whatever. SCP for example pays a percentage and they work hard to find the parts YOU want. There are certain times that they can find something for free, but you will never know unless you are looking for that item.

The part that most of you don't understand is the fee. The fee is to set you up and it is 100% tax deductible, when they send you packet you will have a slip of paper inside that you keep for your records. It's a donation to the victims of illegal street racing and you get it back so why complain.

You are required to attend 4 shows and wear two decals which can be customized to match your vehicle. (they make them in different colors) but for the most part, if you don't request a color or windshield banner, they will send you either black/white or blue/white.

Check out BBB if you thinks it a scam.

Last, SCP deals with hundreds of applications a day so if you contact them, chances are, they will get to you when they can. That is why they pay scouts do take care of that. If you don't have access to a scout then it will take a while and you have to be patient. It never takes SCP more than 2 days to respond to me because they know who I am and I have about 8 different emails for each inquiry so that the response time is sooner. If 1000 people sent you a email today to the same address, would you read them all?

If you are serious about getting sponsored and want more info, join my group on myspace http://groups.myspace.com/AccordTunerz or email me at corneliushardy@hotmail.com. and yes your car can be currently stock but you should only be applying if you plan on customizing in that year. does not have to be extreme.

Soo... they pay other people to find more sponsorees for them, and then they pay other people to find more... sounds like a triangle... no wait.. pyramid.

As Hyde has said several times, there is NO business model to this. Unfortunately a plethora of teenage kids with big dreams, big eyes, and no life experience choose to ignore reality and advice and fall victim to this.

Why do they have a clean BBB record?

Because you're signing a contact, they're abiding by the information in their contract, so of course the record is clean, disputes can be settled by mutual agreement of both involved parties, OR by proof by either involved parties that no infraction was made against agreed policy/contracts.

My family races in Top Fuel drag racing, actually 6 time world champions in Top Fuel. I can assure you that NO money is paid to sponsors (minus a few fancy dinners, though they usually return the favor). These are REAL sponsors, like WebCam Racing Cams and Redline Oils.

I realize that the kids reading this are likely too ignorant for this to sink in, but hopefully someone will take the time to think before they act. It's sad to think that people could have the truth laid in front of them about this scam and STILL send their money... Just... wow. :banghead:

Maybe if you had read my post throughly before responding, you would have noticed that first I am not a kid and 2 I am not just a scout but sponsored by them so I should know what I am talking about. I don't care how many champianships your family has won, that has no importance on this subject, don't post trash about things unless you have tried them. There are many companies that only offer partial sponsorships, for example, I approached a company that makes a moterized spoiler and they said that they would give me one at 50% off and would have to go to 6 shows. I thought not bad but since I have a sponsor, I can just get it through them.

I can't believe how much crap you and other people talk, SCP saves me hundreds on products and the only thing i have to do is attend 4 shows which i do already anyway. Don't screw with peoples minds into thinking that they can get a full sponsorship if they have not already invested thousands into their ride.

I applied with Sport Compact Pro, and thought it was a great idea, at first i was hessatent, but now I know everything is fine, aslo i don't think you have to be a winner in any event, I think what there looking for is the type of car you have and what you have planned for it. I'v only won one show so far and this was after appling with them.

And they approve my sponsorship for $15 grand, go figure eh.

Let me give you a free pieces of advice on trolling, if you want to even
remotely be taken seriously invest time in the community, make yourself
known, establish a reputation, give something back and then share your opinions
... otherwise, it's obvious that you just signed on here with an agenda.

Do you really think people are going to value your opinion when you log

I mean really, who signs up onto a message board just to post in this type of a thread?

Are you insulting our intelligence or showing us yours?
