I've been going on ebay looking around for cheap mods, and i came across this thing called "speed chip" that promises a gain of 20 hp for a cheap price(if you don't know what i'm talking about, go on ebay.com and type in "Eclipse Chip") well pretty much says your car can actually go faster than it could, just to stay within specifications, it is limited on how much hp it can give out. Now this chip apperiantly is LEGAL in all states, DOES NOT HURT YOUR ENGINE, and can be INSTALLED and REMOVED within 5 mins. i am really skeptical about this thing because it's hard to believe it will not put stress into your engine. Yet again the feedback these sellers are getting are saying they are legit, and "can't believe this is for real". so now i'm wondering if anyone here have heard or even tried this chip before, thanks!

Think about it, then i think you will be able answer your own question. If it was that easy to get a 20 hp gain, everyone would have this chip and would be 100 hp faster if they followed that guys list in the ebay item :biggrin: . It doesnt work, plus feedback on ppls accounts dont mean nothing.

I personally don't believe in this mirical chip, because i'm sure the limitation on the engine was set for a reason, eclipses are known to be a fast and sporty car so if the japanese can make the car faster without hurting the engine, they would

the only "miracle chip" that will make a noticible difference would be to remove the speed limiter which some models have but just search vfaq or ask here cuz its not hard to take out.

speed chip is a fraud, after about 1-2 weeks you CEL will come on and its only gonna cause problems. If you buy it your just retarded

YES IT IS A RESISTOR...Some are just put into a fancy case with a fancy sticker..... my buddy had a grand prix gt and put one in it.... all it does is tricks your CAI into thinkin the air temp coming in is 32deg. Fer. It did give him more torque and HP but the only gain you will feel is the EXACT same as if you start your car and drive it right away... the cold idle... 20HP is absolute BOGUS.... I can say that putting a stupid sticker on your car "CAN give you UP TO 20HP increase"
But I don't mention the fact that it will actually only give you the base HP of ZERO!!! LMAO...

We already discussed this plenty. For anyone who thinks that there is some new invention that is suddenly better than the 10 year long research, trial, and proven results that we DSMers have, they are wrong.
