1998 program remote....this worked for me

I saw this in another thread so thought it worth repeating for others. Thanks to whomever knew this and posted it before.

I programmed my 98 remote but had to try two different sets of instuctions before success.

Here's the two methods I found:

method one (this one didn't work for me but apparently has worked for others)

Sit in the drivers seat and close all doors
press and hold the unlock button and insert and remove the key 3 times, on the 3rd time, leave the key in the ignition.
press the lock & unlock buttons on the remote for 12 secs
Repeat for ALL remotes ( up to 4)
Remove the key for the ignition.

method two (this one worked for me 1998)

1) Close all the vehicle doors.

Important
In order to successfully enter the keyless entry programming/diagnostic mode, you must complete steps 4-6 within 25 seconds of pressing the door unlock switch.

2) Press and hold the door unlock switch.
3) While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, Insert and remove the ignition key twice. Do not rotate the ignition lock cylinder.
Insert the ignition key a third time leaving the key in the ignition lock cylinder. Keep the ignition in the LOCK position for the rest of the procedure.
4) Release the door lock switch. The chime will sound 3 chimes, which signals that the transmitter programming/diagnostic mode is active.
5) Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time on the keyless entry transmitter for approximately 4 seconds. The chime will sound two times which signals that the transmitter has been programmed successfully.
6) Remove the key....you're done!

IMPORTANT NOTES: with me step 5 took more like 10 seconds so wait for the chime! Also, I know from experience that this method will "unprogram" other remotes so immediately after you program one remote, hold the lock and unlock buttons on the second remote to program it and again, wait for the double chime.

Hope this works for you.

This method worked on my 2 OLD Int. remotes for 02 Olds.
