I have a 1993 Grand Cherokke and the information center console shows a message "Check oil level". I already change the engine oil and filter, the trany oil and filter and it did not go away. Does any one has an idea?

it could be the oil level sensor in the oil pan.

Do you have a oil pressure gauge? What's it reading?

Back to the basics, have you checked the oil level? I'd go to that, make sure it's reading the proper level on the dip stick. Secondly, if your oil pressure is that high at warm idle, that's too high.

possible a sticking pressure relief valve in the pump, sludge build up in the oil galleries would all cause oil pressure level to high..

There must be an open somewhere in the oil level senor circuit. trace the wires back to the computer, also just because you changed the oil doesn't mean that the level is proper, and no i dont think your an idot just make sure the oil level reads on the full mark of the dip stick. it will come on when the ol is down half of a quart.

Check the wiring at the sensor.

the computer will ullimatly be looking for a ground if it is one wire or 12vs if it is a 2 wire plug. If it is a one wire sensor disconnect it and see if the light goes away. then touch it to ground. if the light toggles off in either senario its not the wire. If it is a two wire sensor disconnect the plug, does it toggle? connect the wires together, does it toggle? if the light goes off in any one of these situations... the wires are good and the sensor has a problem. If it does not toggle then check the wires back to the computer, a good manual will have the pin out for the sensors. make the logic at the pin out to turn the light off. if it doesnt go out the computer is bad or there is a short, open or other physical deffect.

good luck

I am having the same problem. How do I change it? Can I check the wiring some how first (Where is the conector plug?)

yeah, mine does the same thing. I've just learned to ignore it, though the reminder beep when I throw it into drive is annoying.
An easy fix would be nice though :)

All fixed : took it to the dealer who said they pulled that pan and replaced the oil level sensor.. Yeah!
